Deputies: Teen burglars tasted, snorted human and canine ashes

'Three young men have been arrested in connection with a Silver Springs Shores burglary last month in which about $1,500 worth of jewelry, a laptop, a DVD player and a 42-inch flat-screen TV was stolen.

Also stolen: The remains of a woman's father and the ashes of her two pet great Danes, reports the Ocala Star Banner.

Marion County detectives say the burglars told them they thought the containers with the ashes they stole contained crushed pills, so they tasted and snorted them, reports the Star Banner.

When they saw an article in the Star-Banner, they realized those were the remains of the canines.

Holli Tencza, the resident whose home was burglarized, told the Star Banner she hopes the remains of her father and her pets, Samson and Epic, will be found.

A detective believes the dogs' remains were possibly thrown into a lake, which the agency's dive team is expected to search. The ashes of the human, the detective said, are believed to be at an unknown location and they are trying to recover them, reports the Star Banner.

“It was all about the money. I had no money coming in and needed money so I did it. It was a stupid mistake,” David Diaz, 19, told the Star Banner.

Marion County sheriff's detectives arrested David Diaz, 19; Waldo Soroa, 19; and Matrix Andaluz, 18, on charges of burglary and three counts of grand theft, according to the Sheriff's Office.'
