Canada: Marijuana Patients Allowed To Vape In Airports, Planes
Health Canada-licensed medical marijuana patients are now allowed to consume cannabis through vaporization both in airports while waiting for their flights, and while on the plane during the flight, according to Lisa Mamakind and Cannabis Culture magazine.

"At the end of May 2011, as a license-holder, I took it up myself to clear up any ambiguities in regard to where and when I'm able to medicate," Mamakind writes in Cannabis Culture. "Up until this point, we could only speculate as to what exactly were the policies of the corporations and agencies we deal with when we choose air travel."

According to Mamakind, cardholding Canadian medical marijuana patients have been hassled going through security, as Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA -- think TSA) agents haven't been trained to recognize either medical marijuana cards or licenses.

"The old policy stood that even if the cannabis is legal, if it's found amongst your carry-on items, a report would have to be made, sometimes involving police stationed in the airport -- and it could take up to a good 20 minutes to work through the process," Mamakind said. "Often insensitive agents pull out bags of medicine to display for the entire security area, remarking at the scent and/or asking what strain it is.

Also a video at the link.

I really wish the US could kick ass when it comes to health care but we only seem to be able to kick people in the ass... or beat them... or shoot them... or bomb them... Sheesh.

1. So sad, we've gotten in the US so if it harms people, as you said kick/beat/shoot/bomb them
it's great and perfectly OK. NEVER did I ever imagine I would see the US erode to what it is today.

Some people were imagining it getting this bad at about this time.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/If_This_Goes_On%E2%80%94

"If This Goes On—" is a science fiction short novel by Robert A. Heinlein, first serialized in 1940 in Astounding Science-Fiction and revised and expanded for inclusion in the 1953 collection Revolt in 2100. The novel shows what might happen to Christianity in the United States given mass communications, applied psychology, and a hysterical populace. The novel is part of Heinlein's Future History series.

The story is set in a future theocratic American society, ruled by the latest in a series of “Prophets.” The First Prophet was Nehemiah Scudder, a backwoods preacher turned President (elected in 2012), then dictator (no elections were held in 2016 or later).

6. Sadly I could see that happening here, and certainly the hysterical populace. Sometimes
I look at Yahoo Answers discussions and comments on You Tube, and it's enough to make one seriously question the stability of the populace ... and the gullibility of this nation, how far it could go.

12. If you read it keep in mind it was written 70 years ago..
There's a reason Heinlein was called the dean of Science Fiction for a long time.

13. That's what you get with "gubment" health care -
no respect for the fine products big pharma produces and a virtual endorsement of herbal remedies. :sarcasm:

My brother's oncologist did prescribe Marinol for him, but suggested in a round about way (Minnesota does not allow medical marijuana) that he might find a more "natural" substance more helpful & because my brother had lung cancer he also mentioned using a vaporizer with another vague suggestion about where he could find one suitable for the "natural substance". What a sham that a doctor needs to talk in circles to do what he thinks is best for his patient.

14. My friend recently underwent cancer treatment at a large

research hospital. The physicians openly discussed MMJ with him, and a few said they could provide him with a scrip, though it wouldn't do much good it might help if he was arrested.

It's pretty ridiculous when our health care choices are made by politicians and not physicians, and when we are subject to arrest and incarceration if we make a choice with which a politician - but not our doctor - disagrees.

It's like: if they made apple cider vinegar illegal...
