Shot for Nothing
Shot for Nothing

DEL RIO, Texas - Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and Maverick County Sheriff's deputies smashed into a grandpa's house and shot him as he cooked menudo for his grandchildren - but they had the wrong house, the family says.

(nothing further, will update later)

3. That sucks. Not only did the poor kids have to watch that, but I'll bet they'll never
touch that kind of soup again. It doesn't say how young they were, but even if it had been the right house they shouldn't have to witness such a thing. What the hell inspired them to shoot? A wooden spoon?

5. Why would sheriffs from a different county participate in this?
Del Rio is in Val Verde County. Sucks either way.

7. I suspect it was in a rural area and they just said Del Rio because that's the closest larger town
That entire area is a hot bed for smuggling and it's been getting increasingly violent.

8. That's probably it.
I like Del Rio. We go every Feb. The Amistad Resevoir is a site to behold.

9. I've been there many times
The lake and surrounding canyons are beautiful. I've seen all of that area from the air many times. I don't really care much for the town of Del Rio, but I do like some of the Mexican restaurants. I always stop for a bowl of cabrito soup at Don Marcelino's when I'm there.

10. We spend most of our time at Seminole Canyon in Comstock.
Love the rock art. I'd love to see the canyons from the air- must be breathtaking. Sometimes we go to Acuna to eat at Crosby's- so yummy.
