Former PSU Player Donates to Sandusky's Defense
A former Nittany Lion sent $100 to Jerry Sandusky for his defense fund, even though the former Penn State assistant coach stands accused of having sex with young boys.

Sam Stellatella, a three-position player in the 1950s, has donated money to Sandusky's defense and urged other former players to do the same.

"I told him he's going to need a million dollars to defend himself," the 73-year-old Stellatella said. "He called me back and said, 'What am I going to do with this money?' I said, 'Use it for your lawyer because you're going to need it.'"

Stellatella sent Sandusky $100. He wrote personal letters to other members of the 1959 Liberty Bowl team that defeated a Bear Bryant-coached Alabama team and asked they also donate. He does not know how much money was raised.

1. Ah, all the pederasts are pitching in to help the "embattled" pederast. What a swell world.

4. The guy is still getting his PENSION--he's not destitute.
What'd he do with all the cash from his perversely named "Touched" book?

When he retired, Sandusky opted to take a lump-sum pension payment of $148,271 from the State Employees’ Retirement System. The rest of his pension is being paid out monthly and is $58,898 annually.

6. update: the fool has since said, "DOH! I didn't know the seriousness..."
"...of the allegations. Had I known, I would never have sent him any money."

I don't have a source because I heard him say this on the radio.

Seems indicative of the Penn State supporters, best not to know what's out there.

7. If Jerry Sandusky was my friend, I might contribute to his defense, too
I've had friends and acquaintances get cross-wise with the law, some accused of truly bad crimes. I hope that if I'm ever brought before the bar of justice, my friends will treat me similarly and remember our friendship especially during a very bad and difficult time. Certainly there will be no shortage of former acquaintances who would simply cut me dead, but I'll remember best those who stood by me, even if I'm guilty.

Yeah, what Sandusky has been accused of is horrible, the worst of humanity, and if he's found guilty he will go to prison for the rest of his natural life. Those who remember him from back in the day, however, and continue to support him are truly his friends and exemplify some of the best in humanity.
