Herman Cain stumbles badly on Libya question
Herman Cain stumbles badly on Libya question

Herman Cain struggled to explain his position on President Obama's handling of Libya in an interview with the Journal Sentinel of Milwaukee released Monday, at one point asking if Mr. Obama supported the uprising and suggesting he was having a hard time articulating an answer because he has "all this stuff twirling around in my head."

...

"President Obama supported the uprising, correct?" he asks, speaking carefully. "President Obama called for the removal of Qaddafi - just want to make sure we're talking about the same thing before I say yes I agree, or no I didn't agree. I do not agree with the way he handled it for the following reason - nope, that's a different one."

Cain then pauses for about five seconds.

"I gotta go back and see - um, I got all this stuff twirling around in my head," he says. "Specifically, what are you asking me. Did I agree or not disagree with Obama?"

Campaign says Cain was on 4 hrs sleep: "Didn't say anything wrong or in accurate, it just took him a while to recall the specifics of Libya."

1. Did I agree or not disagree.......?

Well, if those are the only two choices I think we know the answer.

2. By this time, I'm sure Herman's more than a little punchy
I like, though, that he tries to get to an answer by asking "President Obama supported the uprising, correct?" As he's processing that information, he clearly has to run it through the knee-jerk-o-later, and determines that the default position of being against anything President Obama is for won't work out to a palatable position. So, the first alternative is that he does not agree with the way President Obama handled it. Whoops, doesn't have a reason. Okay, concede that you don't know what you're talking about and move on.

Move on, dammit.

3. Sounds like he doesn't want to commit to a statement
until he finds out what Obama's position was. Then he'll disagree with it.

He has that part of of being a GOP candidate down. Whatever Obama says or does; state the opposite.

5. Exactly
He was not sure of Obama's handling of Libyan situation so he just wanted to know what it was before he said I disagree and said something opposite. lol

10. I'm perplexed - How can someone woefully ignorant about something "stumble badly"?. . .
Personally, I can't "stumble badly" if asked about quantum mechanics, since I haven't a clue what it means. So how can Herman Cain "stumble" when he's asked about subjects he knows nothing about? "Grope blindly" might be descriptive, especially in light of recent revelations, but those who "stumble" can only do so once they begin at least to walk.

12. If they would have submitted the question 24 hours in advance...
so he could run it past his people, he would have had a much better answer.

Because, at the root of it all, most Americans--certainly all Republicans!--believe setting up the conditions where someone could put a bullet in however in hell you spell that asshole's name this week's head was a Very Good Thing. So he needed a little bit of time for his folks to come up with something Obama did during the Libyan Uprising for him to be against.

16. Gropinator 2 assumes that Obama didn't research the Libyan
opposition. Cain is so phony, it is beyond ridiculous. Get out the hook and yank him off the stage..it is too imbarassing.
