60 days after deregulation, Frontier voids customer Terms of service contract and raises rates.
MY contract!
But I know I am not alone.

The great Republican State of Alabama deregulated Frontier Communication Co.in Sept.
I have a terms of service contract with them, which I renewed in August.
For another 3 years.

My Oct bill was 10.00 bucks higher, but when I complained, they "fixed" it.
till this month's bill which just came.
This time, the Rep. told me "things are all topsy turvy around here, with recent acquisitions, it's crazy"
(Interesting statement, but people have a habit of telling me things)

Loyal customer be dammned, my rates were going to be higher.
They even tried to charge me a monthly fee for a modem they have not sold to me!

After 4 hours of arguing and waiting for callbacks that never came, I finally called a different service rep.
and got the bill down to only a few dollars increase.

So much for a TOS!
More like a POS.

Sadly, we have either Frontier or Mediacom for DSL in our area.
We live in one of those rural areas that AT&T was charging everybody extra money for years to "modernize".
Never happened.

1. Deregulation is almost always a disaster.
Unless you own a good number of shares in the de-regulated company.

2. Contracts are meant to be broken
at least that is the way many companies feel. I have found in the "fine print" there are often statements which states they can change the contract with a simple 30 day notice, but let us want to cancel the contract early they hold us to it. I myself am counting down to the end of a Charter Communications contract in which promises were made over the phone, then I was told because I didn't realize I was lied to when I received my first bill it was my accepting the terms. Same thing with Direct TV who told me I was purchasing a piece of equipment which turned out to be a "one time" rental charge, so I owed them the equipment back at the end of the service. AT&T has been the only company which has helped me when I needed to turn off a phone line sooner than the end of the contract.
