Wounded veteran condemns Feds for blocking marijuana research for PTSD

By Eric W. Dolan
Monday, November 14, 2011

.................

“I served two tours in Iraq and was hit by an improvised explosive device, losing my right elbow and then enduring over 30 surgeries,” said Begin. “Now that I’m home, I suffer from PTSD, and not only does the federal government consider me a criminal for using medical marijuana to treat my symptoms, they even refuse to allow researchers to see how marijuana might help our troops. It’s shameful.”

“I know there are many other veterans like me who would rather use marijuana than the plethora of dangerous and addictive pharmaceutical drugs that are being pushed on us,” continued Begin. “Really, I just think it’s foolish and cruel that our government is blocking research. It’s clearly a political game, but it’s our lives they’re playing with.”

1. My BIL used to work at a school for troubled teens
they'd tell you the same. They were all on a mixture of crazy drugs to modify their moods like ritalin, etc.

5. There was a kid, like 15 with MS, who would fake his symptoms so his Dad
wouldn't know that he had been smoking pot with the hippies again. True story.

2. Welcome to GW Bush's/Dick Cheney's US, that President Obama seems
content to carry on with. We treat our vets like double shit, and have done so at least since Vietnam. I don't care that its all a volunteer military, we should still take quality care of these people upon there return home, IMO.

3. Why are politicians making decisions physicians should make?

When did the training and experience of an MD get cancelled out by the ulterior motives of UNTRAINED politicians?

Why is GREED trumping common sense on this issue?

People with PTSD have: anxiety, nightmares, flashbacks, insomnia, stomach issues, to name a few symptoms. Cannabis for many sufferers, alleviates many of these symptoms with very mild side effects.

Yet POLITICIANS are forcing people to use deadly PHARMCO products with side effects such as : highly addictive, risk of suicide, damage to body.

Who told politicians they know more than those who have been to medical school? Why are we forcing people to harm their bodies to get relief, when relief doesn't have to be so dangerous?

4. I actually told my doctor today for the first time
that pot was the thing that is saving my marriage. My husband got his card last year and his depression is much better. He has tried the pills and they do nothing but have bad side effects, pot relaxes him and makes him happy. He is retired and not working so that isn't a problem.

I also told her that it has helped our sex life since he is confident after a few hits.

I think it is a shame that our country is letting big pharma afraid of losing money if pot is offered control……..

My doctor said she was happy for us and continue on…

My husband is a vietnam vet…
