My dear, dear sis is going into surgery tomorrow to have her non-essential organs all removed. She has cancer of the stomach lining and has been under chemotherapy since October and will probably restart it after the surgery. Its not known quite how prevalent the cancer is yet; we'll find out tomorrow. Se is absolutely one of the sweetest people you could ever hope to know and being several years older, is almost like my other mom. I'm trying to put on a happy face but I'm really scared. I love her so much.

I hope everything goes well for her. I have seen so many people, both close to me and far, who are going through a very rough time with cancer. I can understand the trepidation which comes with such diagnoses--we are still in the infancy of cancer research in many ways, and aren't close enough to finding a way to get rid of the pain it causes, both physically and mentally.
