Any NYC OWS live feeds up right now?
I'd like to know what's going on. (And of course there's no information coming from the MSM.

9. The protestors are to be commended.

From what I saw on livestream, in spite of being brutally evicted, they are still quite peaceful and harmonious.

There is no way this protest will be stopped.

Wall Street abused too many middle class people.

The argument that the homebuyers caused this is absurd.

Individual homebuyers here and there might have committed fraud on their loan applications or overextended themselves.

But when so, so, so, so many homebuyers are in exactly the same situation, the only conclusion you can draw is that there were patterns and practices within the mortgage industry that caused, encouraged or blinded themselves to fraud on loan applications and excessive borrowing.

It is impossible that so many people could make the same mistakes or commit the same "crimes" without some systemic problem originating at a much higher level than the people losing their homes, their jobs, etc.

Wall Street has got a lot of explaining to do. And some of its leaders should have to do that explaining in front of a judge.

I don't know whether you have seen the movie, Margin Call, yet. If not, please do. It is a well done, slick portrayal of the final hours in a Wall Street firm that has just realized that it is going broke.

It, however, makes no attempt to answer the obvious questions any half-intelligent viewer must ask: how did this firm get into such a bad situation? who made the decisions? was their intentional fraud? who has paid for the disaster in that firm?

Lehman Bros. is one of the two firms that really went belly up due to whatever happened on Wall Street. John Kasich has not suffered much since the demise of Lehman Bros.: He is now the governor of Ohio and, as we know making quite a mess of things there.

Kasich served on the board of directors for several corporations, including Invacare Corporation and Chicago-based Norvax Inc. In 2001, Kasich joined Lehman Brothers' investment banking division in Columbus as a managing director.<30> He remained at the company until its bankruptcy filing and subsequent breakup in September 2008. For his work in 2007-2008, Lehman Brothers paid Kasich $182,692 for his 2008 salary, a $432,000 performance bonus for 2007, and $2,250 in other benefits.<31>

So much for the meritocracy that so many like Kasich espouse.

Personally, I much prefer the merit of the protestors who at least say what they mean and mean what they say and are NOT stealing from anyone.
