WP: "O’Malley says DGA may join effort to recall Wisconsin governor"

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) said Monday that the Democratic Governors Association is poIsed to get involved financially in an effort to recall Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) if enough signatures are collected to put the issue before voters.

“There are a lot of people who would like to recall Gov. Walker,” O’Malley, the DGA chairman, said during a morning appearance at the National Press Club in Washington that was broadcast nationally on C-SPAN.

O’Malley, who has been more outspoken in his role as chairman than his recent predecessors, said that the message sent by voters in 2011 was “knock off the narrow ideology and put job-creation first.”

He noted that West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin (D) and Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear (D) triumphed this year in states that President Obama lost in 2008. “They stayed on jobs,” O’Malley said of the two successful Democrats. ”They stayed on job creation.”

2. Hmmm. Conflicted about that.
Overall, I would prefer it remains a "people's movement" but I am sure those grassroots involved would appreciate the Dem establishment's financial and organizational firepower.

6. People's Movement
I like the idea of a total grassroots movement, too. But when the opposition to the recall is being funded by the Koch Bros, Karl Rove, etc., I would guess Wisconsin would welcome the help from Dem Governors.

And in reality, the outcome of the WI recall would affect the states of the Dem Governors, as well, as a successful WI recall would greatly diminish the chances of similar anti-union efforts elsewhere.
