3. Uh, Mitch? You're not the Majority Leader
You don't get to say what does and doesn't come up for a vote.

5. Technically they *could* filibuster all action under Reid allows it to come to the floor.
i.e. filibuster a bill, it gets tabled filibuster the next bill, it gets tabled, filibuster the next one.

Hold Senate hostage until the bill they want comes to the floor. Still I don't think they have the balls or votes to pull that off. Some of the bills would likely be ones they are interested in. You need to be dedicated to pull it off.

6. And that would be different some how?
Edited on Thu Jan-20-11 11:05 AM by Bandit
They have pretty much had a permanent filibuster going since 2007. Also I do believe there will be some adjustments made in how the filibuster works with this new Senate..

7. I agree. The difference would merely be in the negotiating.
Something like:
"We will allow (by not fillibustering) bills x,y,z come to the floor, if you bring the repeal bill to the floor. If you don't we filibuster everything and senate doesn't pass a single bill this session".

I doubt they have the cohesion, balls, and votes to pull it off just providing an example of how the minority *can* force a vote.
