"Obama care" is a God send to me |
|
It means that as long as I live, my 2 grand infusions every 6 weeks will go on. With the last 2 years I have really racked up the medical costs but thank God for insurance and the peace of mind knowing that when I reach the old limit, I can still get the care I need because there is Now no limit.
My care can never be denied even if we move to a new state as my husband wants to do. I had been stalling him and discouraging him from looking because I was worried that I would have a "pre-existing" condition and that I wouldn't be accepted under a new plan. I don't have to worry about that now.
It is not perfect, this "socialized" medicine...(hell I wish I had congress insurance) but at least I have peace of mind that I CAN manage and maintain this disease without bankrupting my family.
OH and until my daughter gets married she is covered as well.

Since I expect to be paying out of pocket for health insurance for the foreseeable future, at least I can't become the victim of rescission.

3. It is certainly an indirect form of recission ... |
|
... and I faced that this past year. Our prescription drug coverage ended, and the cost of upgrading to a plan with prescription drug coverage would have doubled our rates. We gambled and said no, in the vain hope of finding a job this year with coverage.
Would you like fries with that?
Ignore that last question. It was just me practicing for a job interview.

18. Recission is when you start costing the crooks money & they go back |
|
over your original application or medical records to find a reason to cancel your policy.
For example, you're 50 and develop cancer and somehow they figure out that you neglected to tell them you were treated for acne when you were 15. So they cancel your policy because you "lied".

and we spent the last 3 months living at an American Cancer Society facility, an eye opening experience for patients on different levels of cancer care.

6. I was listening to an NPR station this afternoon, and I heard an e-mail |
|
read, pointing out that the sender was a small businessperson who was against "Obamacare" ... until his insurance provider pointed out how much he was going to save under O-care ... now he sent in his letter of resignation from the Tea party, citing their lack of understanding (or utter lies) of the reality of the legislation. He even said that he might (might, no firm commitment) vote for the "President's party" come 2012 ...
Isn't it amazing what happens when people actually stop listening to the Republicans and start thinking for themselves?

of those jobs that offers health insurance? Of course, her husband would have to have health insurance....and the kind that allows a spouse to get on it.
Do I need to marry for health insurance? Has that been my problem all along?

8. she is in college and so is her fiance |
|
when they marry, they won't have insurance until they graduate college and get jobs with benefits.
We were married for over 10 years before we realized that we needed to go back to college.
It is much harder to do when you have a family, children and house payments.
I want better for her than what we had when we first started out.

be discussed because the Dems would not allow it. I'm happy for the people health insurance reform helped, yet very sad to see the people who will not be helped.

15. Do I need to marry for health insurance? |
|
I have seen the availability of health insurance or lack thereof be a determining factor in more than one persons decision to get married or not.
Comes down to money. I never seen one marriage break up because of money in my entire life. Though I have seen the lack of money doom many marriages.
For every dollar that someone has to spend out of pocket for uninsured health care is a dollar that can't be spent on other things.
Its all connected.

24. I've seen many divorces up |
|
close and personal. It seems that what money there is (and there can be quite a bit....rich people get divorced all the time), it is spent on things that the spouses disagree upon.
Money is an extremely emotional issue. Using the money to buy a car vs. paying the rent/mortgage on time shows a real disparity with a couple.
I think how money is going to be handled should be discussed before anyone gets married. It's truly a deal breaker.
Of late, I've seen many couples forced to stay together because there is a lack of money. They can't afford to get divorced.
The bad economy has forced them to remain together....cheaper for two to live in one house and share the cost of utilities.

Unless you're under the age of 18, that provision will not go into effect until 2014.
