"Oakland Mayor Jean Quan Admits Cities Coordinated Crackdown on Occupy Movement" |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-15-11 01:07 PM by KoKo
Oakland Mayor Jean Quan Admits Cities Coordinated Crackdown on Occupy Movement Posted on November 15, 2011 Embattled Oakland Mayor Jean Quan, speaking in an interview with the BBC (excerpted on The Takeaway radio program–audio of Quan starts at the 5:30 mark), casually mentioned that she was on a conference call with leaders of 18 US cities shortly before a wave of raids broke up Occupy Wall Street encampments across the country. “I was recently on a conference call with 18 cities across the country who had the same situation. . . .”
Mayor Quan then rambles about how she “spoke with protestors in my city” who professed an interest in “separating from anarchists,” implying that her police action was helping this somehow.http://ht.ly/7u8Uhhttp://www.thetakeaway.org/2011/nov/15/after-ouster-occupy-oakland-protesters-return/

5. Ir Would Be Interesting To Learn Who Coordinated That Conference Call?....... |
|
Who organized that conference call? Was it a government agency? One of the Mayors? The Banksters?
Whomever it was must be really worried that the Occupy movement is getting its message out.
I'm noticing today that the tact by MSM is to appeal to peoples sense of hygiene. MSM is now talking up in a most disgusting way the conditions as some of these encampments. They are saying things like urine, feces, garbage, smell. I guess if they can't dissuade people about the message of the Occupiers - they think that this tactic might disgust people against the movement.

23. I share your belief that it was DHS |

What happened in Portland had the smell of "anti-terrorism" tactics. We are a leaderless movement, and the authorities exploited this. I felt the same about what I saw in Oakland, although they used different tactics.

25. If there had been leaders, they would simply have attacked them, too. |

We denied them those targets.

27. There seems to have been a series of such conference calls. Here's an earlier mention by LA Mayor |
|
http://www.npr.org/2011/11/07/142102081/occupy-presents-big-problems-for-big-city-mayors Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who is president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, has said he supports protesters’ right to assemble but that they can’t camp outside City Hall indefinitely. He led a recent conference call with seven other mayors to discuss how to handle the Occupy movement and, among other things, the impact on transportation, city services and costs.

The ones with the biggest budgets?

31. According to this article, the LA Mayor "led" that particular conference call |
|
That doesn't mean the Feds didn't organize it, of course, and aren't coordinating strategy against Occupy behind the scenes. I'd be extremely surprised if there weren't entire units at DHS and military intelligence already dedicated to surveillance, penetration and possibly disruption of the movement. That would likely entail coordination through the Fusion Centers with local and state law enforcement.
We've seen them leaf through the book of dirty-tricks in an attempt to provoke violence by the demonstrators, which seems to be their favored tactic to discredit and break up Occupy. Seems they haven't made much headway, because we're onto them. And, frankly, if the demonstrators can't be provoked into violence, other than the resort to naked force to remove encampments, the police don't have much else in their grab bag that they can do right now.
Their tactics are counter-productive, if what they want is continued peaceful protest. By clearing the camps in public spaces, they're going to have permanent groups of politically-radicalized anti-capitalist demonstrators, squatters, and anarchist collectives with their own support networks move into abandoned neighborhoods and buildings in America, creating something similar to the squatters movement in Berlin and some other European cities. From a law enforcement and counter-insurgency perspective, that is probably not a welcome development.
The outcome of the next step -- a more permanent Occupy and squatters movement -- is likely to be further political radicalization and the development of a genuine counterculture. In Europe, the suppression of public protest in the late 1960s and 1970s, and widespread alienation from the Establishment political parties, was the nucleus of a powerful Green Party and of various permanent groups on the Far Left.
The attempted suppression of Occupy may have several unintended consequences, which may in the end be a very good thing.

Sounds like something they do, they certainly have the motivation, and they do have all the machinery and personnel in place plus plenty of money to keep the wheels well-greased.
ALWAYS follow the money! It will lead you to the rat you've been smelling.
