4. This isn't really NEWS.
And if you're surprised, you haven't been paying attention. No one has exactly been keeping this a secret.

9. The NEWS is that a Member has said, in public,
that repug Members say, in their caucus, this is what they're doing. Only 'non-news' is she can't/won't name names.

11. They've been saying this for a while now.
If you want to talk news, I nearly peed myself when I read this about our OK senator Tom Coburn:

5. The GOP is hurting an entire country because of their psychotic
Edited on Tue Nov-15-11 03:35 PM by chowder66
thirst for control and power.

People are either not seeing this or they don't care. What if the Democrats did this. People would be screaming traitors and dictator till the cows came home.
I am so sick of the generalization of congress that they all suck. NO they don't all suck. It's the GOP that is obstructing and squashing the peoples will and the peoples voices because of their hatred and fear of loss of power. Why I wonder. Why are they subverting the will of people. What is behind such an extreme agenda. What is under the rug?

It's not just about the GOP doing this in the House or Senate. It is an attack on us, everday which is already hurting us far into the future. The games they are playing have long term ramifications that
are already hurting generations to come. This is not an able body. They must be voted out and kept out until they can prove they can work and play well with others. They are there to represent US not to force an agenda in our names.

This video should be used in political ads against the GOP but with a clear message of what it really means. This is NOT just about Obama. This is so MUCH MORE.

8. Well said.
They are committing legislative treason. It's all about absolute power. They know they are bankrupt of any ideas to fix things because they have painted themselves into an ideological corner a long time ago. They know people are catching on and their days are numbered as an effective political force for the bottom 95%. But the perks are just too good to relinquish their control...so they are moving to legislative themselves into permanent control. They want One Party rule - as long as they are the ones doing the ruling.

14. I think what is really frightening is what you typed here;
"They know people are catching on". The frightening part of that is not that the republicans are seeing that, it's that it is taking -this long- for people to "catch on" in the first place!

double grrrrr

16. yeah, this didn't just start happening in the last few months.
It's been years in the making. For the most part, I blame approximately 50% of the voters who haven't been paying attention for the past 20 years or so and still play identity politics to their (and our) ultimate detriment. There was a time when I'd vote for the candidate, regardless of Party affiliation. I voted for Bill Cohen and Olympia Snowe in past elections, but I learned a long time ago that supporting sensible moderate Republicans only enable a radical Republican agenda.

7. Why do Republicons HATE America?
Why are Republicons so determined to drag America to FAIL?

It is truly sick.

12. Sure it is
Ya gotta hate something -- in this case the USA - to lie and cheat and steal and wank all over the place against the grain of decency and honor, the way Republicons rag continually on this great nation.

15. They hate the masses
They have seen us as pushovers while they rub their greedy little hands together coming up with various ways to steal us blind.

But they know We CAN take back control and throw these assholes out; never to let this kind of thing happen again. That will make them hate us more.

17. Slicing and dicing the electorate has been a successful strategy
for Republicans over the past few decades. It started with Nixon's Southern Strategy, then progressed to using cultural issues like abortion and gays, then to healthcare "socialism". They've become anti-black, anti-immigrant, anti-Latino, anti-gay, anti-women, anti-education, anti-government, anti-environment. Essentially, they've become the anti-socialist Party. But eventually this starts showing up with voters who fall into at least one of these categories. The traditional Republican voters are getting older, white, and shriller. And smaller. I don't know if 2012 will be the final gasp, but this Party is starting to panic and their efforts to stop people from voting might actually accelerate their demise. By 2016, they may be on life support, waiting for the voter to pull the plug.

25. I hope your are wrong about 2016 and it happens sooner!
Anti-Socialist party is a good descriptor but I can see many on the right supporting that stance because of how they would interpret it.
An Anti-Amercian Party on the otherhand is clear in its meaning and I find it hard to believe that anyone would jump on that train.

26. There was a time when anti-socialist meant something.
It was often used to describe behavior of criminals; ie "anti-social behavior". It was a label that got applied specifically to the individual way back when I was growing up. The Right has been demonizing the word "socialism" for decades...seems to me that has to make them anti-socialists. And I know of no anti-socialistic countries or governments who've made things better for the general population. By definition, I think that's an impossibility.
