IF DHS coordinated the OWS evictions with 18 cities as being reported....
then Obama must speak out instead of "hoping" that local authorities can find a way to deal with OWS by balancing the freedom to assemble/freedom of speech with safety.

If the feds are involved, then so is he.

1. Agree -- who is reporting this? It sure does seem
suspicious - obviously coordinated.

And Obama made a statement today akin to what's in my post. Doesn't jive.

16. Per Daily Kos, DHS is NOT coordinating any police responses; any coordination is by cities only.

3. The lines are being more and more clearly drawn. #OWS is winning.
Problems are being revealed at an ever-increasing depth, and people are being increasingly polarized regarding them.

#OWS is winning.

24. And as a Constitutional lawyer....

...he is well acquainted with the term "reasonable time, place and manner restrictions."

Here's a handy Google link if that phrase is not familiar:

http://www.google.com/search?q=%22reasonable+time%2C+place+and+manner+restrictions

5.5 million hits.

Unfortunately, being acquainted with the First Amendment in any real sense, also means being acquainted with the ins and outs of two hundred years of precedent on the subject, as well as whether the current Court is inclined to make significant changes in that precedent.

Civil disobedience means disobedience. One can claim to be acting within the law, or one can claim to be engaging in civil disobedience. One cannot simultaneously do both.

27. All constitutional experts think exactly alike..
Constitutional law is like Latin, it never changes and everyone agrees on the interpretation.

28. Sure it changes

But it doesn't go from reasonable time place and manner to, "sure, have as many people camp out in a park for as long as you like."

And the abortion clinic hasslers are waay out in front on these issues. They are going to be allowed to block the sidewalk in front long before any court allows a 24/7 encampment of indefinite duration.

Most of DU doesn't want the Phelps clan just standing near funerals on public areas holding signs. Your enemies of the First Amendment are right here, ostensibly supporting OWS.

So, tell me. How do you allow OWS and keep the Phelpses away from funerals?

26.  Also, he was not around ATM. As he left he said something about "operating" on a "Deaf Star"
so that it would be "fully audible" soon, or something like that. I don't know what that means, but if it all works out I gather the people of "Alderaan" are never going to have any complaints ever again. So there's more Hope and Change delivered as promised.

Which is entirely possible. The Patriot Act gave them enormous powers.
