Freepers on Giffords. "Why didn't she ask for police protection?"
So her district is still going without a vote in the House? Are the folks in her district okay with that? And has anyone ever asked her why she never insisted on police protection for herself and her constituents at her public appearance?
by mewzilla

I know I will be accused of being insensitive and mean-spirited but it seems that she can’t string together cogent complex statements or thoughts. Doesn’t that suggest that she will be unable to understand most complex processes (including understanding and voting on legislation written in legalese that exceed 1000’s of pages)? Maybe just rehabbing and living should be the best course for her. Maybe she should resign?

she should not be allowed back to her job

I”m sorry to seem so callous BUT why the hell is this woman still occupying a seat in the House? Her constituents have been without representation since January. I wish her well & am glad she’s had a remarkable recovery, but the truth is anyone in the private sector would have lost their job long ago.

She’s the perfect democrat. Since when does one need a fully operating brain or the ability to string together a sentence to vote how Nancy Pelosi says you should.

1. In a Free country, one has the reasonable expectation of being able to walk about
and not get shot.

at all to Strom Thurmond in his final term? You want to talk about "a fully operating brain or the ability to string together a sentence" The people of South Carolina should have been embarrassed!

Let's see who you turn to when you suffer a brain injury (heaven forbid). She's getting top notch care- you'll have to depend on state care because chances are if you live in a red state, your insurance will not cover comprehensive rehab.
I know I'm off topic, but these shits really don't comprehend how far she's come. And since she's come this far she will continue to improve.

8. Two words:
Strom Thurmond

Guessing no Freeper ever objected to his demetia-addled ass being wheeled in to cast a vote.

Rick Perry can't do that either. Oops. :sarcasm:

No but seriously - she's not brain dead. She's still Gabrielle Giffords. She has trouble speaking.

11. Of course it is impossible to understand the concept of aphasia...
and that her inability (yet) to always find the word she is looking for, does NOT mean she is incapable of high levels of reasoning and conscious thought.

But, of course, given they largely have NEVER been able to do so, why should I be surprised?

19. Even if Gabby WERE significantly mentally impaired...
...she'd still be smarter then Michelle Bachmann.

Of course, so is a cucumber, so I suppose that's damnation with faint praise.

12. I'm sure if she HAD requested police protection, they would have found complaint there, too.
I remember when Senator Gillibrand came to a fundraiser around here, some people made pissy noises because there was a couple of police cars and maybe four officers present. Ignoring of course, that the reason they were there was because of the Tea Party protest outside the venue.

14. Mild stuff for the FReepers, actually.
Remember, these are people whose "brains" have been pumped full of Limbaugh bile for 20 years. They have learned to hate well.

16. I always felt their high water mark was defending the lynching of Emmett Till.
Seem like after justifying and supporting the brutal murder of a 14 year old boy, there's not much else they can do to shock me.

There is a party in congress that almost all vote alike, but it sure isn't the Democrats.
