IMHO, Sandusky denial wording very similar to Michael Jackson's
This is only my humble opinion. No claim of authority here:

Twice accused but never convicted, Michael Jackson issued the same types of partial admissions:

http://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=123607&page=1

Jackson:

"Whenever kids come here they always want to stay with me,"

"Why can't you share your bed?" Jackson said, holding hands with the 12-year-old and letting him rest his head on his shoulder. "The most loving thing to do is to share your bed with someone."

"I have slept in a bed with many children,"

"We go to sleep. I put the fireplace on. I give them hot milk, you know, we have cookies. It's very charming. It's very sweet. It's what the whole world should do."

http://abcnews.go.com/US/penn-state-scandal-sandusky-speaks-denies-charges/story?id=14953587

Sandusky:

When asked if he was sexually attracted to young boys, Sandusky replied,"Am I sexually attracted to underage boys … sexually attracted? You know … no I enjoy young people I … I love to be around them. Umm I, no … I'm not sexually attracted to young boys."

He hesitated when asked about the numerous eyewitness accounts of his alleged sexual assaults on adolescents.

"Well I could say that, you know, I have done some of those things," Sandusky said when asked by Costas if he is completely innocent and falsely accused in every aspect.

"I have horsed around with kids. I have showered after workouts. I have hugged them and I have touched their leg. Without intent of sexual contact," Sandusky said.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's the same edging-up-to-the-line-but-not-crossing-it defense. Very similar to the over-used but familiar casual school infraction excuse: "everybody does it". This the the self-denial of pedophiles: They always believe they're helping the children. I personally know a victim who was their age when abused, and his abuser continually told him the abuse was "teaching." Pedophiles can't commit the abuse if they believe it's abuse. In the perpetrator's mind, no harm is being done, so it's OK to admit proximity to the children. Minimizing and rationalization are the hallmarks of the guilty. Sandusky's not just trying to stay out of prison, he's trying to justify his inner conflict within his own mind. I believe Jackson was, too. Why else did he have an infra-red silent motion detector installed just outside his bedroom door? That's not what innocent people do. I also believe it's why Jackson ultimately over-dosed. He couldn't sleep because of the guilt.

In both cases, many children were hurt and many made accusations. Jackson paid one or two off. In both cases, there was more than enough money involved to protect the accused rather than the accusers.

All just speculation, so, these are not claims that I "know" or that I've heard. My speculations are only based on what I read and hear on TV. It's my humble opinion, just as my subject states.

No claim of authority, just lots of bells ringing as I listen to it.

1. My sister said the same thing.
We aren't afflicted with the religious denial of Jackson fans.

2. there was a trial in the Jackson case
the 'victim' was not found by the jury to be credible.

That should be enough for some to conclude there is no credible case against Jackson. The 'religious denial' is from those who continue to press the accusations without any credible proof whatsoever, as you have here with your nonfactual innuendo.

3. Whew! I'm glad somebody brought this up.
They did everything they could to convict him including changing the law. He was acquitted by a white jury.

5. Jackson made payoffs in the past, and there was more than one accuser.
Just because a conviction remained out of reach, that doesn't prove the accusers were lying.

Michael Jackson was a world music phenomenon on stage, and a total nightmare in his private life. Just the over-spending and the hideous cosmetic surgeries are proof of that. His last press conference was incoherent. A normal healthy adult doesn't build a personal zoo/amusement park to "help" kids. Normal people give to real charities and hospitals that help people like Lions Club and Jerry Lewis and St. Jude's Children's. Normal people don't hire doctor after doctor to put them under anesthesia every night in their bedroom.

Normal adults don't bring children into their homes and beds without their parents.

Normal grown men don't shower alone with children. They know better.

14. cute
the way you included the 'shower' stuff. I don't remember any showering accusations against Jackson, but I guess you can say anything outside of a courtroom and get someone somewhere to believe you.

6. The "victim" also later admitted that the whole thing was made up by his father.
As a means to try and squeeze Jackson for money.

4. That interview with Costas
I gotta admit the allegations against Sandusky sickened and enraged me. The interview made me feel sorry for him. It's so totally messed up.

7. I'm not sure that MJ was an actual literal child molester
but that doesn't mean he wasn't seriously creepy around kids.

There's a lot of run-up to sexual abuse of children, including looking at child porn, filming children for sexual purposes, wanking while thinking about kids, and so forth. I would argue that wanting to spend large amounts of time around strange children and wanting strange children to share your bed is part of that creepy pedo practice. I mean, the guy built an AMUSEMENT PARK at his house to lure kids over. How is that different than Sandusky's Second Mile Foundation?

I also think that MJ seriously did not understand how other people could see his behavior as creepy, and that alone sets off all the bells and whistles.

8. Then why did Michael insist that the children come to him alone, without parents?
Why wasn't michael spending his free time with other adults?

9. Like I said, I'm on the fence about it
I think he was totally creepy about kids, no question. And yes, keeping adults away because they wouldn't understand is pretty damning.

15. This could be another case of money and fame protecting pedophiles and hurting
their fans. If Michael abused kids, they're still around, and their lives are permanently ruined. But this case proves we haven't learned our lesson: Anyone can hurt kids, and they all deserve society's protection, even against a powerful, famous perpetrator.

We have to open our eyes to the truth, even if it's unpleasant. Perpetrators count on everyone's squeamishness for camouflage.

They think he's coming back as a zombie.

On the other hand, what normal male goes around letting some 12 year old boy hold his hand and the weird shit in that interview? At the very least it was really stupid, at the most he was a pedo.
