People Asking Why Sandusky Did That Interview With Costas - I Just Figured Out Why.....
Edited on Tue Nov-15-11 10:27 PM by global1
I'm thinking his lawyer will use the "He's a Sick Man" defense. He will try to make us believe that he's sick and he needs help. On the order of not being sane to stand trial - kind of defense.

Why else would he submit himself to an interview where he admits he did some of these things mentioned in the grand jury document and think he was helping kids instead of harming them.

I just heard an expert on sexual abuse say that Sandusky is using the classic defense of a pedophile - thinking he is not guilty.

I'm thinking Sandusky's lawyer is looking to create some sympathy around Sandusky. I'm thinking that it backfired because almost everyone that heard that interview was more repulsed.

4. I think he doesn't think he did anything wrong
And I was totally enraged before the interview. Now I feel sorry for him and all his victims.

9. Right
It's PR.

Let's see him submit to a real interview with someone like Brian Ross or Steve Kroft.

8. Maybe
But I'm betting it's the standard deviate defense. The kids have false memories, the kids are to blame, and nothing happened so what's the
deal. This has to be moved out of Pennsylvania. The risk to the powerful associated with that foundation is exponential.

10. an "expert on sexual abuse" said the classic defense of the guilty is to think they're innocent?
brilliant, that's exactly what they said about witches back in salem.

i heard a snippet of the interview, and i agree that the limited responses i heard match with my lay preconceptions of a guilty pedophile more than what i would expect to hear from an innocent person, and i'm sure an expert could point to very specific things he said or the way he said them that might point in that direction.

but simply stating that a guilty pedophile classically defends himself by "thinking he's not guilty" is a completely idiotic and useless statement. innocent people defend themselves that way, too.

11. I can't imagine sympathy for this monster...but I have a feeling that..
when this does go to trial it will take a strange twist. Perhaps another "surprise shoe" is about to drop.
