Well just came through the door
from the march to the PD HQ in San Diego. I will have a lot of occupy to do... and story to file, But lord I first need some food and to brew some coffee... I need to write a story... to file a story TONIGHT. Ah the days of coffee is cheap and night is long is back! Suffice it to say... Mayor Bloomberg... thanks, from the bottom of my heart. You just gave the movement a new injection of rage... let me tell you, even in sleepy san diego... You have no idea how determined Occupy is.

Oh and let me tell you, my legs feel like jelly after running up and down the line taking photos, while marching down Broadway and then the Gaslamp quarter.

4. Will be waiting for the story. :)
Also - yeah, definitely, on the Bloomberg thing. How stupid is he? Everyone knows that if you respond to peaceful protest with violence and oppression, the protest grows. Everyone.

Everyone with a conscience, that is. From what I've observed, they assume that we are as selfish and amoral as they are and that we will do what they would do in that situation.

I saw an interview with Jalil where he said that the Gaddafi regime's biggest mistake was firing on the protesters, that the idea was that if you shot some of them, the rest would go home. Only a day or so later, I read that some Republican official somewhere had said that if you ran over some of the Occupy protesters, the rest would go home. It's like they don't have the same emotions as the rest of us, that they don't understand empathy and righteous anger at injustice.

But hey, I'm cool with that. If you're going to be oppressed, it's good if your oppressor is stupid and plays right by the rulebook and gives your resistance more power, visibility, and presence.

5. Well, we don't expect you to post all 200, so just slack a little
and toss out 100 or so. :7

That's great that Bloomberg's action only spurred determination! I think they'll find that more and more (I hope). It'll come back and bite them in the ass.

You rock, nad! :headbang:

10. Thank You Mayor Bloomberg
Republicans aren't quite ready to dump Bloomberg yet . . . after all, he does give millions of dollars to the Republican Party. But they are definitely feeling the heat. Clearing out Zuccotti Park was not a smart move, and Bloomberg showed once again that he's basically a rich guy playing at being a politician.

Energizing the left was not in anybody's game plan. Bloomberg brags that he made the call all by himself, nobody else did it for him. That's probably true . . . and Republican politicians are slowly backtracking away from him. Going forward, it's hard to see what Bloomberg can gain from this. Protesters are going to dog his footsteps everywhere he goes. He'll need a couple of squads of cops around him just to cut the ribbon at a new supermarket.

He didn't need this. He wasn't hated. But he's the gazillionaire who used riot cops to roust protesters as they slept in their tents. What an asshole.

Bloomberg made himself toxic.

11. Protesting Police HQ? I like that, actually.
Maybe OWS needs to expand to protest the precincts and One Police Plaza, too. At minimum, we might get some good counter-intelligence on the cops.
