Reagan tribute scheduled for Super Bowl
Edited on Wed Jan-19-11 08:24 PM by underpants
Several pop-ups on this site. Summary is below.
http://www.examiner.com/political-buzz-in-atlanta/reagan-tribute-scheduled-for-super-bowl

On Sunday, February 6, 2011, the world will turn its eyes to Arlington, TX for Super Bowl XLV, to be held at the Dallas Cowboys' new stadium.

February 6 is also notable for another "cowboy" - this one, an actor-turned-President. February 6, 2011 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of this nation's 40th President, Ronald Reagan.

Tributes are being planned across the country as well as around the world, even in countries of the former Soviet bloc described famously by Reagan as an "Evil Empire" in 1983, at the height of the Cold War. The fall of the Soviet regime is largely credited to the actions Reagan took, both foreign and domestic, to spur the American economy while forcing the U.S.S.R. and Soviet bloc to destabilize and eventually fall, being rebuilt for the most part into Western-inspired republics.

A tribute is being planned as part of the Super Bowl festivities in Texas, though specific details are largely being kept under wraps at the moment.

5. George Allen was basically going to be a fill in for that in 2008 once he got the nomination
but....there were those 106 seconds in Wise County.... and McCain got it by default.

14. He might reach out and make Reagan's birthday a national holiday
being a Reagan devotee and all.
Besides, it would be a great thing for bipartisanship and crap

7. El barfo.
I wish people would wise up and connect the dots. Reagan started this nation on the road to ruin. He was a mean old man who shouldn't have been elected dogcatcher, let alone governor, let alone President.

13. Entombed in underground vault
A tomb had been previously built for the eventual use of Reagan and his wife. Following a sunset service on the library grounds the previous evening, early on the morning of June 12, 2004 Reagan was laid to rest in the underground vault.<30>

22. Not to mention Beirut

At 6:20 A.M. on Sunday morning, October 23, 1983, a lone, grinning Muslim drove a Mercedes truck through a parking lot, past two Marine guard posts, through an open gate, and into the lobby of the Marine headquarters building in Beirut, where he detonated the equivalent of six tons of explosives. The explosion left a 30-foot-deep crater and killed 243 marines. A second truck bomb moments later killed 58 French soldiers.
