Sandusky's extended comments. Unbelievable
Edited on Wed Nov-16-11 04:29 AM by RainDog
the link is to the NY Daily News, but via Talking Points Memo. It's parts of Sandusky's interview that did not actually air. Sorry if this was posted before. Looked but didn't see it.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/college/jerry-sandusky-i-seeking-young-person-sexual-helped-article-1.977730

At one point, about seven minutes into the interview and after Costas asked Sandusky about the 40-count indictment he faces for sexually abusing boys over a 15-year period, and Sandusky replies that he is innocent of those charges, Costas asks Sandusky if he fits the classic MO of a pedophile.

Sandusky's reply at the 19:01:01:00 mark of the interview is perhaps the most damning of the entire session:

"Well -- you might think that," Sandusky said. "I don't know. (LAUGHS) In terms of -- my relationship with so many, many young people. I would -- I would guess that there are many young people who would come forward. Many more young people who would come forward and say that my methods and -- and what I had done for them made a very positive impact on their life. And I didn't go around seeking out every young person for sexual needs that I've helped. There are many that I didn't have -- I hardly had any contact with who I have helped in many, many ways."

Costas himself seemed stunned by Sandusky’s comments, and perhaps by the fact that he was being interviewed at all. According to Costas, he was preparing to interview Joseph Amendola when the lawyer suddenly offered to get Sandusky on the telephone.

Goodbye, Jerry.

1. He's actually saying he didn't seek out every young person
Edited on Wed Nov-16-11 04:05 AM by BanzaiBonnie
for sexual needs?!#&? Just some of them. And some... he helped many without contact at all.

He's toast!

5. yeah. it's like he's saying.. hey, it was only some of them.
it's not like I'm a pedo-ho.

I also helped other kids without abusing them so give me some credit.

oh, in the grand jury report, one of the abuse victims also notes that both Sandusky and HIS WIFE were trying to contact the student before his testimony. I guess she knew that he didn't rape all of those kids, so surely none of those kids were telling the truth. Or maybe she was trying to help Sandusky get away with his crimes.

25. Yeah, I'm pretty sure right after that his lawyer committed suicide with a letter opener.
This is right up there on the list of what not to do if you're accused of a crime.

2. This is why most attorneys don't allow
their clients to talk to anybody. Sandusky was doomed when it took him 17 seconds to decide if he was attracted to young boys.

His attorney is either an idiot or trying to get him killed or maybe both.

11. Personally, I have doubts that Sandusky will ever spend a night in jail
I believe he's got the goods on too many rich & powerful people involved with Sandusky's Happy Hunting Ground cunningly disguised as a youth charity organization. They will never allow Sandusky to so much as hint at taking anyone else down with him. I don't know how it will happen - whether he dies unexpectedly like Ken Lay, or vanishes off the face of the earth, or finds sanctuary in a foreign country, or gets assassinated, or gets 'suicided' - but I believe Sandusky will neither go to jail nor rat out his fellow perverts. Pity, that.

15. Maybe his attorney
has extreme distaste for him and wants to allow him to hang himself publicly.

who knows?

It does seem stupid for a defense attorney to allow Sandusky to do these interviews at all.

23. Watched the Daily Show last night;
Jon was airing bits of the interview and freaking out, asked "Where is his lawyer - opps he's seated beside Costas...", and then pointed out the lawyers own checkered past (after the lawyer said he would have no problem leaving his children alone with Sandusky); apparently he got a 17 year old girl pregnant when he was in his 40's. As Jon put it, what kind of degenerate sick old guy club do these two belong to?

17. Or maybe he didn't listen to his lawyer?
It's hard to believe the lawyer recommended the interview... but I don't know.

Michael Jackson sounded about 1000 x more innocent in his interviews than Sandusky's.

3. 'Touched' :The Jerry Sandusky Story - 2001
Sandusky co-wrote an autobiography titled Touched: The Jerry Sandusky Story , which was published in 2001. His co-writer was Keith “Kip” Richeal.

The book also includes a quote in a foreword<14> from football coach Dick Vermeil about Sandusky: “He could very well be the Will Rogers of the coaching profession.] In the book, which was still on sale at the Penn State bookstore according to a November 12 report in a Harrisburg paper, “Sandusky paints a picture of himself as someone who would consistently take risks in pursuit of what he often refers to as ‘mischief’”. Other passages which look “different in light of the horrendous allegations” include:

ou could mess up a free lunch”, Sandusky quoted his own father as telling him

“I thrived on testing the limits of others and I enjoyed taking chances in danger”

Sandusky telling of demonstrating his throat-hold on a Second Mile boy who'd come to Sandusky complaining of a “foster father ‘grabbed me around the back of my shoulders and ... made me do something when I didn't want to do it’”

repeated descriptions of Sandusky hugging boys and talking about being very close to boys
“I enjoyed pretending as a kid, and I love doing the same as an adult with these kids.”<16>

Sandusky didn't rape every child he came in contact with.

at a prison here in Alaska that was geared towards sex offender treatment. Sandusky sounds like every pedophile I ever came in contact with. He's in serious denial if he thinks he isn't one.

7. Each time there's a new revelation about
Sandusky, I get more angry at the people surrounding him. The sick fuck hardly even covered his tracks, yet no one could get him removed from society, either in a mental hospital or in a prison. They all keep passing the buck, saying "I reported it to my superiors" or "I told the cops." When you see someone doing something that heinous, you're supposed to keep telling people about it until something is done. As far as crimes go, you just don't get much sicker than this.

9. Heard that interview & I'm beginning to think that
Sandusky is mentally off. He seems very detached. Perhaps has emotional immaturity.
At the very least, he must have been immersed in these "goings ons" for his entire life, & seems to think little of it.

Really......what adult showers w/a 10 yo boy?!!!? And then talks about it freely & admits doing it on numerous occasions, as if that happens ALL THE TIME w/the rest of us! :wtf:

21. could he actually do that?
and what would the consequences be?

I wondered why the lawyer sat in the studio and, without advanced warning, asked Costas if he wanted to talk directly to Sandusky.

I think Costas handled himself really well in the circumstances.

The lawyer isn't exactly a pillar of the community regarding sex with minors himself.

20. His attorney needs to put a muzzle on him!
And if this doesn't get moved to federal court, which it should because he transported kids over state lines to pimp them out and to rape them, he won't ever be put in jail. Because Pennsylvanians are crazy about Penn State and they are more upset that their precious coach got fired than this guy raped a ton of kids. Which he totally just admitted to.

26. Lawyer says his client will testify to abuse by Sandusky
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/17/sports/ncaafootball/lawyer-says-client-will-testify-to-severe-sexual-assault-in-sandusky-case.html

It appears Sandusky's phone call has helped to make those who are mentioned in the grand jury report more willing to testify against him. The lawyer also says more victims have come forward - and that this is normal in abuse cases of this sort.

27. One of the signs of a true pedophile is that
they don't see anything wrong with what they are doing. They can rationalize everything or put the blame somewhere else.

This guy really doesn't see what the big deal is. He only had relations with some of them? Well, OK. I guess that is better than having relations with all of them

But how weird is that thinking?
