Jerry Sandusky's charity official raised money for district judge who set his bail
Edited on Wed Nov-16-11 02:16 PM by Are_grits_groceries
State College district judge Leslie Dutchcot, who set Jerry Sandusky's bail lower than what prosecutors asked for, benefited from a fundraiser organized by an official with The Second Mile, a children's charity started by Sandusky, according to My Fox Philly.

Prosecutors say Sandusky, a former Penn State assistant football coach, found victims through the charity. Sandusky was charged in the sexual assault of eight boys.

Dutchcot listed The Second Mile as a charity for which she volunteered. According to a source close to the case this week, Dutchcot had only small roles at a few events in 2008 and 2009 -- after Sandusky stopped participating in charity events -- and never talked to Sandusky himself.

However, Rep. Mike Vereb, R-Montgomery County, who is asking for an investigation into Dutchcot's connection to the charity, said that documents show Robert Poole, the chairman of The Second Mile, held a fundraiser for Duchtot in 2007 as she was running for office. The fundraiser netted $1,463 and was held at Poole's house in State College, Pa., according to the My Fox Philly report.

We've sent a letter to State Supreme Court Chief Justice Ronald Castille Monday, asking the judge to look into why Dutchcot ignored the requests of prosecutors when they sought bail of $500,000 and that Sandusky wear an ankle bracelet for tracking.

It seems that there are way too many connections between the PTB in all areas. Some outside group ,say from Planet Xoom, should be called upon to investigate this mess.
Who knows what group or person may have a dog in this fight and be more than willing to cover it up?
The whole thing stinks!

1. Ah, the local media has the story now. The fireworks will
soon begin over this conflict of interest. It should be interesting. Local reporters will be looking to get their local Emmy over this story, so they'll dig like crazy. A local news Emmy is a ticket to the big leagues for local reporters. This judge is toast.

2. She also worked for the Charity in a volunteer capacity--and thought enough of her participation to
list it in her "resume" at her former law firm. "Small roles in a few events," eh?

I don't care if Sandusky wasn't there at the time, she should have recused herself.

The appearance of impropriety in a public official is as bad as actual impropriety. This was a no-win for her, she should have stepped back. I mean, really--don't tell me PA had no other judges who could have set the guy's bail.

It's absolute horseshit. The fix appeared to be "in" and it looked like collusion--and when it looks bad, it IS bad.

What is up with "justice" in PA? DAs go missing, judges using poor judgment...? Scary.

The whole thing most certainly DOES stink.
