OWS needs to be aware and be aware of COINTELPRO

I suspect many in OWS are unaware of the history of COINTELPRO.

Google it.

Realize that techniques have evolved exponentially in the past 40 years.

1. Anyone who doesn't know that the government infiltrates and

does intelligence on organizations doesn't matter, really. I'm sure there are plenty in OWS who do know. Infiltrators will still succeed, though.

2. It makes me sad to think people could perform the activities our government asks of them

against their own people for activities that are granted to us through the Constitution.

I have no idea how they reconcile it. I'm sure they have crafted some intelligence to present to those that engage in these type of activities that would seemingly justify their actions "for the greater good", but surely they have to realize that the only people who would benefit at this point in our nation's history is the elite/top 1%. Perhaps if their salary is high enough and they are in that 1% then they could overlook the fact that the middle class, working class, and poor are losing more and more ground while the top 1% is gaining it all. They are, in effect, helping to turn America into a 3rd world country. I firmly believe that only a conservative sociopath could not be phased by engaging in this type of activity. Concern for self above all and let the world burn...

4. But do the Occupy people realize that COINTELPRO type activities

But do the Occupy people realize that COINTELPRO type activities could be in use RIGHT NOW against them?

Do they consider that some of the violent protesters might be government agents?

Do they consider that some of the much publicized sexual crimes might be perpetrated by federal agents to discredit the movement?

Are they aware of the possibility that even seemingly "natural" things like littering, public urination / defecation, and poor hygiene could be tactics used by undercover agents to paint OWS (to quote a teabagger's assessment of the movement) as "dirty hippies holding Woodstock 2011"?

Are they aware of the "Mighty Wurlitzer" (aka Operation Mockingbird) media manipulating capacity of the CIA, and how it has been used in the past to shape public opinion in the US?

It seems like the OWS people organizing the educational events ought to at least talk about COINTELPRO and the possibility that there might be a covert government operation working to destroy the movement.
