Pa. Chief: McQueary didn't report abuse to us..
By GENARO C. ARMAS

The Associated Press

Updated: 4:03 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — A central Pennsylvania police chief says his department did not receive reports from a then-Penn State graduate assistant related to an allegation of child sexual abuse against former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.

Mike McQueary wrote in an email to a friend that was made available to The Associated Press that he had discussions with police about the 2002 allegation in the team showers. McQueary testified in a grand jury investigation that led to authorities charging Sandusky with abusing eight boys over 15 years. In the email, McQueary did not specify which police department he spoke to.

Borough police chief Tom King said Wednesday that McQueary didn't make a report to his department.

The university also has its own police force. Penn State administrators said they were looking into whether McQueary contacted campus police.

1. Hope there's record of him reporting to campus police
otherwise this casts doubt on the credibility of the only witness. :(

3. He wasn't the only witness
A janitor saw Sandusky performing oral sex on another child. Not the same as anal rape, but crosses the same boundaries. A high school coach also saw Sandusky lying on wrestling mats face-to-face with a child two years before the McQ incident. This incident was investigated - so the police knew about a prior complaint.

I find it hard to believe that the police would investigate one such incident but not another, later incident, if they had been notified.

McQ talked to Schultz, who was the head of the U. police - as an administrator. Because of that position, McQ could make a claim to have contacted police to shield himself from accusations he failed to follow the law concerning sexual abuse of minors.

In addition to those 3 boys, another 5 have testified about Sandusky's touching and fondling them.

It's not clear from what I read, but it appears 2 more boys have come forward since the grand jury report.

McQ is trying to save himself.

5. Thought I read the janitor has dementia
and therefore unable to testify?

6. I forgot about that - true
but he reported the event to others at the time (other janitors) and they i.d.-ed Sandusky because he came back later that night, twice, in his car, but didn't go into the facility.

There's also the report that one of the mothers confronted Sandusky and that a police officer listened to the conversation when the guy who disappeared was working on the case. It would seem that Sandusky didn't admit to anything in that case, however.

The trial will, hopefully, also bring victims in to testify. They're in their 20s now. It would be difficult but also ultimately healing to confront an abuser in the public square.

2. If he didn't report it, he's part of the conspiracy of silence
All it takes for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing. If he did nothing, he's part of the evil.

4. I'm betting that if he did report it....
it was to the university police and nothing was done with it just as nothing was done with the 30 page university police report on Sandusky in 1998.

Podcast link where the report is talked about, occurs around the 6:20 minute mark, the whole podcast is well worth listening to, imo:

7. I hadn't seen the report on the WFAN interview.
It just seems that there is no way that Paterno did not know about Sandusky's penchant for children. Joe knew...he knew.

Like Paknis said, Joe may have had more power than anyone in Pennsylvania.
