Santorum On Obama & Abortion:'Almost Remarkable For A Black Man' To Say We Can Decide Who's A Person |
|
Potential 2012 presidential candidate and former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) doesn't understand how President Obama could not answer whether a "human life" is protected by the Constitution from the moment of conception: "The question is -- and this is what Barack Obama didn't want to answer -- is that human life a person under the Constitution? And Barack Obama says no. Well if that person -- human life is not a person, then -- I find it almost remarkable for a black man to say, 'we're going to decide who are people and who are not people.'" http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/01/santorum-on-obamas-abortion-views-its-remarkable-for-a-black-man-to-say-we-can-decide-whos-a-person.php?ref=fpblg

9. Let's argue honestly - and I'm pro-choice - but it's no longer a zygote |
|
after eight weeks.
At that point, it becomes semi-human.
That said, most women make the decision to have an abortion within the first two months.

11. That IS and honest argument. The man said CONCEPTION. Last I checked, conception occurs decidedly |
|
before the 8 week mark, as do many abortions.
And what the fuck are you talking about with the "semi-human?" Jezuz. A spleen cell is human. Nobody argued that a zygote isn't human tissue. Using the words "human" and "person" interchangeably puts you on the same playing field with Mr. Sanatorium. I can't believe someone with the temerity to call for "honesty" would be so thick or disingenuous.

13. God, people around here are so senstive. |
|
I agree with your point that conception (duh) and most abortions happen before eight weeks.
My point, if you decide to read, is that it's NOT a fetus past eight weeks. Never has been. It's an almost-human... a parasite that will BE human.
What the FUCK are YOU talking about with the organs??? Using a spleen interchangeably with a baby puts you on par with stupidity.
And, I'm still Pro-Choice. You decide what you want to do.

14. You should try making a cogent argument before wag your finger at people to be "honest" |
|
And if you're going to be bitchy about clinical terms - have a farking clue what you're talking about.

16. Seems to me there's "human", adjective, and "human", noun. |
|
At the risk of sounding like David-Wynn: Miller, there's a difference. A spleen is human, adjective, whereas a person is a human, noun. A fetus is human, it is a human fetus. But is it "a human", or "a person"? Well, it's more like a fetus. Anything beyond that is a matter of opinion.

I'm pretty used to thinly-veiled racism and Republicans pushing the envelope of good taste, but you've managed to surprise me a little bit there. Well done.
