Why is referencing nazi propaganda promoted my Goebbels always dismissed?
Edited on Wed Jan-19-11 10:44 PM by Lint Head
Are we now forgetting history and destined to repeat it.

George Santayana, best known today for his remark that "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it"

Anderson Cooper dismissed Congressman Steve Cohen's statement outright. Some on DU poo poo the comparison.
I'm not saying death camps are in the future but consider who is dying because they can't get health care.
Consider who is dying and injured because they hate the government and fly airplanes into buildings.

Will it the repeated lie 'concept' never apply again? Wasn't there a terrorist bomb found in Spokane, Washington Monday?
Wasn't there a right wing terrorist on his way to kill people in the Tides organization that was a Glenn Beck lover?

Are we now saying lies are NOT being repeated?
Lies are being repeated and repeated and repeated on 'the network I will not mention' and by Limbaugh, Savage and others of their ilk.

Are we living in a fantasy world or did these things happen and will they continue to happen?

As far as I'm concerned Congressman Steve Cohen is absolutely right. It's time to wake the hell up and stop doing the Orwellian shuffle
saying yes means no and no means yes.

To quote Jesus, "Let your 'Yes' mean 'Yes,' and your 'No' mean 'No.' Anything more is from the evil one."
Even if you don't believe in Christ his sayings ring true. Democrats are Matthew Matthew 25:31-46 Republicans are Leviticus.

...that someone named Godwin passed a law that we all have to obey. Although no one knows where Godwin got the power from to do this.

- Personally I ignore it and say fuck Godwin, if the shoe fits, etc., etc., etc.....

4. It used to be dismissed because it was hyperbole.
Nowadays, it's mostly dismissed out of denial.

6. That's the way I've been feeling lately.
I've avoided the nazi reference but it's really been hitting home for me recently.

10. I dismissed someone quoting Goebbels on a threat about gun magazines.
He was invoking Goebbels to suggest that people calling for reasonable gun regulations were akin to Nazi propagandists.

12. Given sufficient time, virtually any political stance can be applied to the Nazi's...
...and hence becomes comparable.

Note the word: virtually.

But that's the main reason that it's categorically dismissed. Usually there are better example to use that aren't so open to interpretation.
