President, Dem lawmakers diverge on Social Security
Source: The Hill

President Obama and Democratic leaders in Congress are moving in different directions on Social Security.

1. Retirement age and COLA...
"Senior White House officials have told Senate Democrats that raising the Social Security retirement age and changing the calculation for cost-of-living adjustments are “on the table” but no final decisions have been made, according to Senate sources."

2. IF this is true, he will not be getting my support or vote in 2012. This article actually makes me
sick. So, we govern to win the next election rather than what is in the best interest of the society as a whole. :puke:
It's all about the election cycle, baby!

8. In 2005, the Dems had a rare instance of holding together
when Bush decided he was "gonna spend mah political capital" on privatizing Social Security. Dems told him to go suck a tailpipe.

So... if this president goes turncoat, will he get the same? Or will they bend and horse trade for the leader of their party? If he sticks his neck out and they leave him dangling without a net, the tears and recriminations will be epic.

Obama needs to knock this shit off. If he wins, he'll lose. If he loses, he'll lose. Clinton's triangulation on welfare was a gamble, and he got away with it. Triangulating on SS is a whole other beast, a good way to get ground into paste.

11. You ever get the feeling that he only intended to be
a one term kinda president? What a waste of time, effort and money. I want a refund on all three.

12. A Republican mole
I could use a refund on my donations to move to Canada. I wonder if the apologists are still thinking he got his clock cleaned in November because he's "too far left" :eyes:
