Cain:Taliban May Be Infiltrating Libya and ‘We Need A Leader, Not A Reader’
Republican candidates have long expressed concern that Islamic extremists could use the new Libyan government as a means to vault themselves to power. But Herman Cain is probably the first to worry about the Taliban.

That’s right the Taliban: the Afghanistan/Pakistan based Islamic movement separated from Libya by several thousand miles (as well as their ethnicity and language).

“Do I agree with siding with the opposition? Do I agree with saying that Qaddafi should go? Do I agree that they now have a country where you’ve got Taliban and Al Qaeda that’s going to be part of the government?” Cain told reporters in Florida on Friday, according to Politico, while explaining his previous issues describing his Libya policy. ...

~snip~

... He later downplayed his lack of foreign policy knowledge, declaring in New Hampshire: “We need a leader, not a reader.”

2. He's not alone
Plenty of people here on DU insisted that the Taliban and Al Qaeda were behind the revolution in Libya, or any other smear they could think of to justify their kneejerk reaction to the UN and NATO becoming involved in the Libyan revolution.

Gaddafi himself said that the youth were revolting against him because Al Qaeda put drugs in their Nescafe.

As for the leader not a reader - well, the NYPD does seem to like destroying Occupy's books.

"Where they burn books, they will eventually burn people."

7. "If elected President, I'll hire a good President"
That's essentially Cain's answer to each question put to him. He keeps saying that he doesn't need to know anything or to know how to go about making decisios, as he will consult the people who do. He's running on the promise to be a mere figurehead, a Koch marionette.
