Khephra the legend.
Today's DU Homepage has screen captures of the DU homepage from the last 10 years---from 2001 to today.

I clicked on Jan. 24th, 2002 page and immediately let out a chuckle...for there, on the right side of the page, under Late Breaking News, was Khephra in all his glory.

The Man was a posting machine.... and DU will never ever have one like him again.

I remember looking at his post counts and marveling at how many posts he had compared to everyone else. ---it was like everyone had 1000---he had 20,000....I'm convinced that if he were alive today he's be closing in on a million.

AND---he didn't just post crap--- he posted interesting and important stories from every source on the nets.... so you know the dude had to read what he posted before he posted.

If there was a nomination for the Top DU'er for the 10th anniversary--- I'd have to nominate Khep... for sure.

4. I remember him being a very decent guy, too
I never met him offline and only had a few direct private mail exchanges with him, but when I heard he died I was hit as hard as if I'd lost a very close friend.

RIP, Khephra.

6. K(heph) & R.
Came to DU in the middle of it's existence and looked forward to his posts. It left a hole when he passed. That's why I praise the LBN crew for carrying on his quest to dispense the unvarnished truth.

Edited on Thu Jan-20-11 04:57 PM by kskiska
so he could cover Congress and he recorded every utterance of W back in the early days of his misadministration.

He was quite a guy. We used to compete to post the top stories when the next day's papers appeared around midnight. I'm sorry I never met him, aside from e-mails.

I wonder how his mother is doing.

27. He's the reason I registered
I lurked here since 2001, but never registered. I can remember him posting questions about being a Mason. I registered to respond to him. There was just something about his post that seemed so non-threatening that I decided it would be okay to reply (I'm dyslexic and message boards cause me a ton of anxiety.) He was the first person who welcomed me here, and was the best source of news on the 'net. :(

I couldn't log onto any of the network servers, but Kef was here on DU plugging away and keeping up constantly up to date on what was happening.

When he died, I sent his mom an Obelisk. I saw it in a shop right before he passed, and afterwards I just had to get it for her.

48. I had to LOL at that one, "Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval."
I remember one time I wanted to post something, but wasn't really sure if I should. Guess who came along to help out?
Khephra. Not only did he help, he thought the post was a good idea. The Khephra seal of approval, it didn't get any better than that. Still makes me smile to think about it.

His whole being came through in his words. You could tell that he was the real deal, a wonderful person.
Khep, you are missed.

And I wish DU would retire 'his' avatar.

as well as to the site collectively. When the Dems took back Congress in 2006, I cried-- partly tears of joy but also sadness that Khephra and Nostamj were not here to celebrate with us.
