1. non-story
I can't believe I stayed up all night for that.

Rachel made it seem like that news was going to be made. Not.

3. What do you expect for 7am?
If it were real news, they would have showed it in prime time.

5. maybe you're right
But I like Rachel. (less than I used to, though.) I hate it when she gives me a bum steer. She endorsed this with such vigor, I thought it was going to be BIG. But I guess she sold out, just like everyone else.

10. I like her show too
But she would have broke it herself if it had been big. I think she was just throwing a bone to Hayes.

2. She has been quite contemptuous of OWS in the past...
Was she dripping with snark?
She has REALLY disappointed me lately.

4. No not really. I haven't been keeping up with her. What did she do lately?
I see some out of joint re her. My first impressions of her were very good. She got sidelined did she?

11. Well, it seems she caught some of that "inside the beltway"
Edited on Sat Nov-19-11 08:27 AM by hlthe2b
Insider attitude, perhaps thinking that was the way to ingratiate
Herself to the network? When she echoed Nicole Wallace's
snarky comments about OWS and lack of toilets/hygiene rather
than focusing on the income distribution inequities and the
whole message, I'd say she'd taken quite a turn from her NOLA/Tulane
roots. Of course there was her period of fixating on Dems who'd
expressed disappointment in Obama--as racist. While she apparently
accepted a debate opportunity on David Sirota's radio show, it
never happened, so perhaps she's learned that racism isn't always
the first (or only) explanation. But then there is her constant
reference to what she expected from her students in comparison
to the expressed thought processes and lack of knowledge of. Repug
Candidates. These are college students--I would surely hope
she had higher expectations for them compared to the RW clowns
except for knowing SHE assigned Sarah Palin's BS ghostwritten
book as an assignment. (!)

I liked her a lot initially, but am pretty cool to her now. She seems
to have adopted quite an opportunist attitude lately.

12. MHP is a political science professor and is giving her opinion from
her learned perspective. She isn't attacking OWS. She just has concerns that they aren't being as effect as they might be if they actually articulated their vision and goals instead of leaving it up to speculation.

Apparently, she has a point because it seems that OWS is moving on to D.C., which is where I think most outside spectators think their efforts will be put to the most effective use.

13. Her earliest comments (weeks ago) were superficial, snarky
Edited on Sat Nov-19-11 08:40 AM by hlthe2b
and astonishingly lacking in any critical analysis one might
expect from an academician. They were, however the kind of
comment one might expect if one wished to ingratiate oneself
to and with the RW guests on the panel--

As I said, I have gone from major fan to considerably
disappointed. That said, I did not hear her this AM so
I do hope she's changed her outlook and, as you say, actually
done some in-depth analysis. If so, good on her.

14. That may be so. I didn't see the appearance you're referring to. But
if everything else you've said is true, the one thing I'd disagree with is that she was kissing up to right-wingers. I've never seen her do that.

16. Can she not read? #ODC sent a proposal to reduce the deficit, raise
revenues and create jobs to the deadlocked Super Committee that cannot agree on when to have lunch.

MHP, when she hears about it, will probably attack it for being to "broad". She know exactly which side her bread is buttered on, and it is not the side that reads 99%.

Why do people keep listening to corporate media expecting a different outcome?

15. I thought it was just me when it came to Rachel Maddow's
seemingly shifting attitude. I would go from watching Keith on Current to watching Rachel at 9:00, but she would fixate on something completely opposite from Keith's topics. At first, I just switched to another station, and lately I rarely watch her. I miss her, but since I am interested mostly in the OWS, her show is not for me anymore. I would rather watch Ed at 9:00 after Keith's show

Has she ever gone down to the OWS site?

18. Of course, OWS is two months old.
Exactly when should they have 'ran candidates'? Day one? Does she think OWS is a political Party? Has she ever managed to add terminology to the discourse on a national basis with all of her TV time? Has she in any way altered the conversation America is having? OWS has done those things. She has not.
If she has strong feelings, she should go join a GA and express herself as part of the movement, she is welcome to do so twice a day, every day. She's wealthy enough to visit Occupations all over the country if she wanted to make the effort.
