The Dangers of Pepper Spray:
Oleoresin capsicum, which is derived from hot peppers, is what makes pepper spray powerful.

Reduced Breathing
A natural incapacitating effect of pepper spray is the swelling of the linings of the nose and throat. This will make breathing difficult for anyone, but for those with preexisting respiratory problems, such as asthma, it can lead to more severe problems.

Skin Irritation
Chemical burns, blistering and sores can result from naturally and artificially derived pepper spray. This reaction is more likely in individuals who are allergic to oleoresin capsicum, or who have had allergic reaction to peppers in the past.

Eye Irritation
Pepper spray is usually sprayed at the face, particularly the eyes. It typically causes tearing, redness, pain and, in some cases, swelling and chemical burns around the eye area.

Temporary Blindness
Some people experience temporary blindness after being exposed to pepper spray. This typically lasts no more than 30 minutes to an hour, but it can be frightening. There have been no studies related to the long-term effects of temporary blindness resulting from exposure to pepper spray.

Death
Those with severe allergies to oleoresin capsicum may experience shock or become unable to breathe once exposed to pepper spray, leading to suffocation and death.

1. Some lawsuits need to be filed against the state for this. Hit them in the pocketbook...

10. Stop attempting to dehumanize the police.
It is a vile practise. And it is a prelude to violence which is not part of this movement.

11. if you want to stop the police from being dehumanized, get them to stop pepper spraying students
like they did in Davis yesterday.

it was the actions of the police there and in many places in recent months that make the arguments that the police are inhumane.

one little sentence from a random poster on DU is having no effect. videos of countless police doing these things is responsible for what people think about the police.

9. The Law in California: Check it out. Is this cop defending himself????????
California Penal Code Section 12403.7 (a) (8)
