Lieberman to Huffington RE: Iraq & WMDs on "Morning Joe"..."Saddam had every intention...sweetheart"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/20/joe-lieberman-insists-ira_n_811509.html

ARIANNA HUFFINGTON: It was stunning to hear you say that there was evidence that Saddam Hussein was working on weapons of mass destruction, given that even President Bush himself has now accepted that there had been no evidence. So on what basis are you saying that?

JOE LIEBERMAN: I'm basing it on the so-called Duelfer Report. Charles D-U-E-L-F-E-R conducted the most comprehensive report on behalf of our government. And it was, nobody thought it was partisan. I want to be very clear: he didn't find big caches of weapons of mass destruction. But he found, and proved I think, that Saddam had every intention, and particularly to develop nuclear weapons, was developing chemical and biological and weapons . . .

HUFFINGTON: Based on this completely unfounded assumption, I sincerely hope for the sake of the country that you do not become Secretary of Defense.

LIEBERMAN: Now Arianna, these are not unfounded. Go read the Duelfer Report.

HUFFINGTON: There is nothing in the report that proves anything you have said.

Dripping with condescension, Lieberman retorted, "I don't think you've read it, sweetheart."

Makes me wish he WOULD try to be re-eelcted, so he could be thrashed so badly that he would never be seen or heard from again.

2. Even if he was
was it worth the gazillions of dollars and loss of life to remove him and essentially destablize the country and the region? I sure don't think so.

Their little experiment failed. Iraq didn't become a stable democracy with all the surrounding countries following suite.

3. Seriously? WTF. If wishes were nickels I would be a rich man.
Wanting and desiring something does not make something so. For fucks sake. I'm glad this asshole is on the way out.

9. Lieberman is an ass, but he is factually correct here.
http://permanent.access.gpo.gov/DuelferRpt/Volume_1.pdf

The Duelfer report found that there was no WMD, but that Saddam had the intent to reconstitute his WMD program after sanctions were lifted.

24. Intent gets proven in courts of law every single day.
Most criminal convictions depend on a finding of intent beyond a reasonable doubt.

Gee, Joe. We're really going to miss you. But now you and Lynne Cheney can devote more of your time to blacklisting college professors.

18. Yeah, I thought that was even more condescending than "Sweetheart."
The "sweetheart" thing was more of a kiss-off, a final "up yours" to end the conversation, but the spelling bee was the real "Get a clue, you stupid (fill in favorite inappropriate expletive here)."

Whatta guy.

22. He wasn't on the set. But everyone who was spent a nice bit of time
dissing him and replaying the "sweetheart" line, in case anyone missed it (I did, but I was also reading the NYT...I gotta stop multitasking...). Even Joey Scar dissed him ("What is this, a Jimmy Cagney movie?" Mika was disgusted. Even smartass Willie made a snarky remark. Arianna took the high road. She was pretty classy and smart. Doesn't she have a Ph.D in Foreign Policy or something? Ole Joe needs to watch his mouth...
