"Ask not what your country can do for you..."
Edited on Thu Jan-20-11 11:15 AM by kentuck
"Ask what you can do for your country."

Was this a patriotic statement by JFK??

Bill Maher made a comment on his show that Democrats need to reclaim patriotism. They have permitted the Republicans to hijack patriotism as their sole property. Did he have a point?

What is good for our country? Are more taxbreaks for the wealthy good for the country? After all, JFK cut taxes to 70%. It is insane to think he would have cut them to 35%, in my opinion.

Is healthcare for our people "patriotic"?

Is spending trillions of dollars on a wasteful defense industry "patriotic".

Yes, I think we need to reclaim "patriotism" but first we need to define what patriotism is.

3. It's about giving, not taking.
I don't believe people are interested in what they can give to make everyone's life better. They only expect things to be easy.
