Terrorist cannot take away our freedoms, it takes a politician peddling fear to do that |
|
and a willing people who decide to live in fear.
Pipe bombs. Iraq. Iran. Afghanistan. On and on.
The only freedoms I recall losing are those voted on by congress, none of them were removed by bombs - except the freedoms of those in countries we bombed. Those people got no vote.
I don't worry about people a world away. We have enough nukes to destroy the whole planet, more than enough to attack someone who attacks us.
I worry about health care, being able to not only see a doctor, and to be able to afford the medications and treatments.
I worry about jobs, about being able to pay enough to have heat in the winter and food. I worry the company I work for will choose to earn a few cents more an hour and move my job somewhere else - all while getting a tax break to do so.
You know, the things really killing/hurting people.
The only people that worry me wear suits and are wealthy. Some poor guy living in the desert a world away is not the problem I am seeing right now.
Terrorists don't have power here to change or destroy my life. Politicians, police, the wealthy here have that power.
And they are the ones I am most worried about.

1. Brings to mind the popular Goering quote: |
|
"The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders...tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger."
