1. Ironical, ain't it?
They get protection from unfair employment practices while they beat up on people who are protesting among other things, unfair employment practices.

You'd think they might question where their loyalties lie.

2. And lawyers defend murderers. So What?

Unions have been severely attacked and crippled for forty years.

They don't have near the power they used to.

This is why I am completely amazed that union bashing still gets traction.

I have a school project for you.

Corellate the health of the US Economy with union membership from a historical, chronologic context.

Come back when you are enlightened enough to accurately demonstrate the relationship.

9. I have a school project for you - learn to read more carefully
You have evidently misinterpreted my response as "union bashing" when in fact it was exactly the opposite.

So I'll explain it in simple terms for you.

I felt it was ironic that the cops, who got protection from summary dismissal by virtue of their unions, would feel justified in whaling on people who were standing up for labor unions.

If you don't understand this I'll dumb it down a little more for you.

14. It is not the union who scuttles the investigation it's the department
the most the union lawyer can do is tell his client not to talk....

If you look at Oakland's payouts the union lawyers can't protect cops who don't collude with other cops before an investigation. It is just the facts of the ground but when did they matter anyway.

Let me dumb it down for you when there is video the likely hood that a cop is going to walk away is not very good.

The reason why the cops won't be busted in regards to OWS is they were following orders.

5. No one should be fired without due process.
The real issue is that silent, craven upper leadership does not make it clear that police brutality will not be condoned, and with that cowardly silence they open the door for such abuses.
I mean, you do understand that we do not convict people who are witnessed committing a crime without investigation and process, don't you? The police who commit crimes also have the rights any accused have. No big deal to anyone who is not simple minded or out for mob justice.

6. The process should be pretty quick
... if the subject is on camera on national TV committing felonious assault on a great number of innocent people

... or if you got him on tape having put a bullet into a harmless woodcarver walking down the street

... if you have pictures of him throwing an explosive device into a crowd giving medical aid to a wounded person

and so on and so forth

8. Bust the police unions!
MAKE them part of the 99%, and maybe they'll stop cracking people's skulls. :(

Doesn't want to piss of the police unions.
