The Super Committee was designed to do a couple of things.
First, it was designed to fail--look at the members appointed to it. Second, it was a mechanism to kick the can down the road to the next congress.

This congress and the last two have abandoned their duties. They want the offices and the wealth they accumulate in office but not the responsibilities of governance. I think one thing that the President has not been recognized for is the fact that he did expect congress to step up and do its job. This failure underscores how broken it is.

Time for the people to occupy the house and senate through the ballot box.

1. The only practical thing that resulted from this whole fiasco was that the debt ceiling was raised.
The rest was just poltical non-sense anyway.
