I don't see the problem with the appearance for the reasons stated in the article - working to pay for college in particular. What irks my wife is that there's a day when they wear "school girl" uniforms. She finds it royally inappropriate.

Some say that's a crappy job that many young people don't aspire to, but it too can be used as a stop-gap while attending college. Almost any job can be such a stepping stone.
