John McCain's Daughter Makes MSNBC Debut as Paid Contributor
John McCain's Daughter Makes MSNBC Debut as Paid Contributor
Meghan McCain, the newest "NOW with Alex Wagner" staffer, joins former first daughters Chelsea Clinton and Jenna Bush Hager as NBC News contributors.

Now that the political season is heating up, Meghan McCain -- daughter of erstwhile Republican presidential candidate John McCain, will be appearing on MSNBC more often -- and as a paid contributor.

McCain makes her debut on the network (as a staffer) Monday at noon on NOW with Alex Wagner.

In a statement released by MSNBC on Monday, McCain said: “It's a unique opportunity to share my perspective as a Republican on a network I respect and have built a relationship with over the past two years.”

McCain has been a frequent guest on MSNBC since 2009. She wrote a memoir, Dirty Sexy Politics, about her time on the campaign trail with her father.

6. the funny part is she's a 'paid' contributor
even though she doesn't have to work a day in her entire life...Does NBC think their chump change matters to her??

2. the difference between McCain and Bush and Clinton
is that McCain has been blogging for years and she actually writes things that get people to read them and discuss them. It makes some sense for a cable channel to hire her.

Bush and Clinton, on the other hand, don't have such a body of work, they are starting right at the top, and they're on the network itself, not the cable channel.

12. When Michael Steele is the only defender of OWS on an MSNBC program
Edited on Mon Nov-21-11 12:39 PM by aint_no_life_nowhere
there's something completely screwed up. On Alex Wagner's program, they discussed Gingrich's week-end statement about Occupiers usurping public property without paying for it and needing to get a bath. Even Melissa Harris Perry didn't completely condemn Gingrich's statement. Harris Perry lately has been a continuing disappointment. The panel consists of a former Black mayor of DC, McCain's daughter, and Michael Steele. The latter was the only one who seemed to have something good to say about OWS. I'm amazed that no one challenged the insanity of Gingrich. Alex Wagner compared OWS protestors to the "reactionary hippies" (her words) of the 60s. Why didn't anyone point out that OWS is on public property, they pay taxes, and they have a Constitutional right to be there? Geez!

20. I agree
she adds no content. She talks about things like wouldn't it be great if young people voted republican... or I'm Republican still but I care about the environment. No real incite about the world, just empty commentary. Of course I guess that IS cable news these days.

14. NOW with Alex Wagner has been thoroughly unimpressive thus far
I caught a few days of it last week. Nothing memorable. I haven't yet seen the point. And, of course, adding Meghan McCain doesn't add much of anything.

15. This morning she's been thoroughly disgusting
Every member of her panel has been spewing crap. Calling OWS protestors in Wagner's own words "reactionary hippies"???
