Outsourced: Herman Cain on Whirlpool Board of Directors. Outsourced thousands of Jobs!
GOP Frontrunner Herman Cain is the lead story in almost every news hour. This self described “Other brother from another mother of the (anti-union) Koch brothers” he is shocking GOP establishment regulars by currently leading in most recent polls - despite these sexual harassment allegations from not one, but several women. Admittedly, they were paid for their silence. These allegations occurred while Cain was head of the National Restaurant Association. Link News has now surfaced how Mr. Cain’s spending habits at the National Restaurant Association were also questioned and it has now been determined that Cain had left his employment before the end of his appointed term at the NRA shortly after payments were made to 2 women who filed these sexual harassment charges.

This article isn’t about sex, or any allegations made against Herman Cain. This article is about what Herman Cain CANNOT DENY.

This article is about Herman Cain’s time on the Board of Directors of Whirlpool which he served on since 1992 as Director, Member of Corporate Governance & Nominating Committee and Member of Human Resources Committee. (He is no longer on the Board.)

However, Mr. Cain sat on The Board when the Whirlpool board of directors shut down the plant in Newton, Iowa in 2007, a plant that had employed roughly 4000+ workers at its peak. In addition, it was Mr. Cain’s human resource committee that cut health insurance benefits for thousands of Maytag retirees in 2009.

The 2012 Iowa Caucus is scheduled to take place on January 3rd, 2012. And while sex scandals sell in the media, why not take the opportunity to ask Mr. Cain why he voted to destroy a town in Iowa and thousands of AMERICAN JOBS – for a tiny bit more profit. Ask him why he cut health benefits for Maytag retirees – people who worked all their lives for the company only to be rewarded with termination and cuts in benefits for their years of loyalty to the company.

These are the same employees that helped contribute to Maytag’s billions in profits and helped pay for Mr. Cain’s 166k – 190k annual salary!

1. Oh crap..
I wish I'd known that when I bought my new refrigerator last June. And here I thought I was doing a good thing, supporting U.S. workers by buying from one of the few (if not the only) manufacturer in the country. That bit of bad news is just added to what has already been a shitty day.

5. I worked for a Maytag Franchisee in 92
After Whirlpool Bought out Maytag, They (Whirlpool) Figured that maintaining two separate manufacturing facilities was not profitable. They closed Maytag, and kept the name, to attach to the whirlpool products, The Maytag quality suffered. IMO...The dealer I worked for dropped his franchise and continued with his Frigidaire line only.... Maytag is still made in the US, Just not as an actual Maytag design, but just a re badged Whirlpool.

(Note) I worked 22 years for Westinghouse, later White Westinghouse. They also played this game, with the purchase of Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Keeping the product name, but re badging the older Westinghouse product line. That is, until they were purchased by AB Electrolux, who shut down most of the facilities and moved them to lower wage areas of the country, and out of country, to be built....I have no Idea, where any of their products are made now...My last day of work for them was 22 Dec 1990...Merry Christmas!!!

8. Whirlpool's a perfect example of how the ultrarich used their toadies to destroy America.
I've got friends in Benton Harbor, Mich., who once worked for Whirlpool. Like most manufacturers, it got "smart" and went to where labor is cheaper to "boost" the bottom line. The process started before KochCain's time, though, through NAFTA. But KochCain has certainly done more than his bit to move money up the ladder.
