Can OWS Survive the Holidays and Winter?
I'm not sure. We're about to head into the holidays, and winter weather is going to make it very difficult to keep numbers up at the various Occupy locations. In addition, with news shifting off to other matters, I think it's possible that OWS will begin to fade from the public's minds shortly. And that's assuming that the general public is thinking much about it anyhow, which I doubt.

This may all have to start up again in the spring, I think. I've been to the Minneapolis occupation half a dozen times. Here, the weather will soon put an end to outdoor participation.

1. People have already started to form flash mob protests, so that will continue...
...and I'm sure other things will show up, such as a continuation of Bank Transfer Day, boycotts of egregious companies, etc.

What would you like to see happen? #Occupy is an idea, and it can be expressed and have effect in many areas.

2. The underlying situation isn't going to change, or not for the better anyhow..
If OWS does fade some in the Winter it will come back gangbusters in the Spring, TPTB will change nothing.

4. Absolutely. It will morph, is all.
There will be "flash demonstrations," mobile actions, etc. Foreclosed properties will be Occupied. There are terrifically creative and committed people. They will find ways to keep the Movement momentum building through the winter. Next summer will be AWESOME.

certainly,
Bright

6. Not sure...I know that our local Occupy has some pretty devoted youngsters...
Personally, it's all about personal safety.

I'd rather the Occupations move indoors than continously read about Occupiers suffering from hypothermia, frostbite or worse...

Trust me, Occupy SPRING is gonna be something to behold!

7. imo this is the time for the movement to broaden - and involve "spaces"...
...that aren't necessarily outside - or even geographical - and involve more people.

It does look like a new phase is beginning.

8. The homeless on the streets go through the winters.
I am certain that with the organization of OWS there will come a plan. With benefit of tents and cold weather gear things will all work out.

9. LA may become a center for protestors. The LA City Council
has been more understanding thus far of the protests.

The physical occupation may become less important, and the form of the occupation my switch from overnight occupations to many marches on all the institutions that represent or participate in the corruption of our democracy.

That would include some of the press, certain businesses, etc.

The key is to remain nonviolent but to continuously bring the messages of the need for justice and the need to end the corruption to those who participate in and profit from the injustice and corruption.

11. For sure. The ideas bubbling up can work well on the internet too.
I'm sure OWS will go strong for a long time.

13. If your concerns are weather, there are plenty of warm states, and plenty of squats to occupy
near parks in cold states
