"These people need to get a job." |
|
I keep hearing this meme from the reactionary right all over the MSM.
Why, in our supposedly "liberal" media, aren't they being taken to task that only 51% of Teabaggers had jobs, while 70% of Occupiers have jobs. Gingrich says that the Occupiers' starts with the premise that they are owed something. That is not the fucking premise, asshole. The premise is we're tired of being stolen from by people who are already wealthier than God. We're just asking for a bit of fairness, not a fucking handout, you twunt.
Why aren't these people being called out for their complete mischaracterizations of the movement?

more today on Psych-Ops Marketing, ran across this, was just interesting as Psych-Ops Marketing becomes more prevalent. Surely we see these tactics used by the republicans, as well as by the gas fracking operatives. http://www.systemiccoaching.com/psych-ops.htm

But why aren't any talking heads (Maddow, Schultz, Sharpton, etc) calling them out on that outright falsification (the fact that Occupiers don't have jobs).
Teabaggers = 51% had jobs Occupiers = 70% have jobs
Why were the reactionaries not calling out the Teabaggers? Why aren't progressives calling out the reactionaries on their hypocrisy?

5. "Get a Job SITTING AT A DESK" |
|
Anyone here that quote? As if you are a "pink or blue collar" worker who doesn't SIT for a livin? you don't have a real job. Personally, I would like to punch anybody in the face who says that. I have pushed wheelchairs, lifted the disabled, changed diapers, and spoon fed the disabled, both children and adults, but because I don't SIT AT A DESK in front of a computer, pushing stupid papers to make PROFITS for the 1%, I don't have a REAL JOB???? You FAT, LAZY, morons don't know what REAL WORK is. Take your corporate, private, for profit, desk sitting, fat ass, jobs AND SHOVE IT.
LABOR make this country great by the sweat of their brows, not you and YOUR lazy asses.

Regardless if you have a job or not. That's the premise. Don't let Gingrich frame the argument - because he's flat out wrong. 70% of the Occupy Movement have jobs.

|
Edited on Mon Nov-21-11 08:20 PM by Rex
a reach around from the govt...you know who got the reach around? Big Biz! So they get to fuck over people and cause massive unemployment and homelessness, THEN get defended by their brothers and sisters in the M$M. Meanwhile the unemployed and homeless get angry at getting screwed over and shit upon, so they go to OWS and demand the govt do something about it! HEY, the govt decided TARP was a good way to go...why didn't they help the other end of the deal? Where is the TARP money for the homeless and unemployed, because of greedy-asshole CEOs that committed fraud? People are hungry and homeless...they DO need jobs. To bad the Job Creators want the homeless and unemployed to fuck off and die. The Owners are soulless creatures.

11. TARP should have gone directly to the people ... |
|
... and not the banks who just turned around and gobbled up other banks and paid their executives egregious salaries.
But, the premise is still not only the jobless. I'm an occupier and I have a job. I take a shower everyday, go to work, work my ass off, and I'm still protesting.
So, Gingrich's premise is flat out wrong and no one corrects him on it.

Call them an asshole, and tell them to prove you wrong.
Yes, I've tried this, and left them completely speechless; they couldn't prove they weren't assholes.
It's called framing; works for any argument on any topic you're talking to them about.

That's what I'm trying to get across. It's all about framing the argument. Don't let them do it. Call them on it each and every time.
P.S. I like the "calling 'em an asshole" method. I'm going to try that.

18. Does it matter whether the original members of the Boston Tea Party bathed or had jobs? |
|
The British might have said that but does it matter? Thomas Paine was called an unkempt nomad who drank too much and couldn't keep a job. But in the scheme of things, does it matter or did his revolutionary writings matter? Get a job is a non sequitur that reminds me of the idiotic "get a haircut" comment that Vietnam war protesters were always confronted with in the 60s.
