3. Bachmann's due for a temporary comeback.
She's not that much nuttier than Herm and he got a chance to lead the pack. And Rick Santorum is due to rise from the dead any day now.

7. Will they hold her accountable for that China gaffe?
She wants us to be more like China, a COMMUNIST country. Mao Tse Bachmann? Not heard nearly enough calling her out on this nasty little confession of hers.

5. You get it.
That is exactly the roll of these jokesters.

They are like the guy in a race, I forget what they are called, that runs ahead taking a fast pace and sacrificing himself for the REAL racer.

Romney is hated among Repubs and can not make it through Primaries but has the best chance int he GE, so they have thrown all these distractors out there to try to make Romney sneak through tot he GE.

You got it.

8. I don't read Freeperville, but I'll bet the farm they are saying something similar

Here's what I bet the CW is over there:

'The liberal media is using the other candidates to push Romney. While they are fervent Obama lovers, they know that he's vulnerable and thus want to hedge their bets by making sure the least conservative candidate makes it though, in case Obama does lose. One by one they are using up the real conservatives to distract everybody (and trash them in the process) so that Romney can skate through.'

It's not exactly the same as your and the OPs argument, but it's close. I don't think that the other candidates are playing the support role willingly though. I do believe most of them think that they could win and would make a super swell president.

I think there is something to all of this. The media does have a major role in shaping the public perceptions of the candidates. They decided a while back that the Mittster was going to be the frontrunner. What's funny is that they have been consistently wrong about who was going to be the anti-Romney. First it was Bachmann, then Perry, but both have fizzled out big time. The two candidates that have since actually vied for that position, Cain and Gingrich, were portrayed as having no chance at all from the beginning.

You had a similar situation last time, when Hillary was cast as the inevitable nominee and McCain was left for dead.

11. Some of Them Are Willing
Betting Bachmann is. Even if they don't stand a chance, they still get to be out in front putting arguments forward.

9. LOLZ!
Louie Gohmert has yet to pop in for a global embarrassment and the known commodities have all had good grabs on the brass ring.

Maybe ole Virginia Foxx will get in for a bit before the end.

Maybe in the end some boring fascist fuck like Barrasso will play white knight if they can't wrangle their base in for Mittens.
