I just called 100 people about President Obama...
I'm volunteering for his campaign again. Tonight, we called people who supported him in 2008 to see if they still intended to vote for him. 100% GAVE ME A GREAT BIG "YES"! Sometimes, walking away from a volunteer event gives me a great feeling. I had expected to be disappointed, going by what the media is saying. Even those who've been disappointed in him intend to get to the polls in 2012 to vote for him. "President Gingrich" is a very frightening thought! I just wanted to tell everybody the good news.

47. Thanks that's very encouraging--I'm in too! Never left him really
And I was just thinking again today --how the repugnicants despite of all their best efforts--couldn't and cannot deny us electing the President we want--but sadly and cunningly deny us the government we all hoped we'd have.
Doesn't it count as treason when you disregard the pledge to the flag in order to keep a useless pledge to someone like Grover N?

2. Thank you for this work, zanana1, I salute you and all other working to GOTV!
:patriot:

I plan do make some calls next year myself but it's never too soon to get started, right?

And not just because of the fear of a president Gingrich or Perry-- Obama, with all his flaws, is about as good as we're going to get until there's some serious change in the way campaigns are financed.

:hi:

11. the MSM's job is to create a reality. They do a good job of selling it too.
See, if people believe that everyone hates obama and no one wants to vote for him then some of them might not bother voting or might feel like there is something wrong with them for still supporting him. It's a propaganda game. They are trying that with OWS... float this idea that people are getting tired of OWS. That might be harder beacause most of us are the 99% and it's harder to get people to not believe their own eyes.

If all our information comes from the mainstream media, and they're manufacturing opinion, that's what we'll believe. Thank God for places like DU and for Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, etc. Current TV is a jewel among all the crap that's out there.

15. I am still not pleased with his job performance, yet
the election is his to lose. The GOP field is exceptionally a sad one. The best he will get from me is my vote (and that is still up in the air) and nothing more. I gave a few dollars last time, but it appears he has and will have plenty of cash so mine will hardly be necessary.

For me voting for the lesser of two evils is not much of a choice. What others do is their decision and I respect their choice to make whatever one they wish to. I am glad for you that you are happy with your effort & the news it brings you.

46. I disagree with your assessment
If I voted for the Republican that would be the case. If I choose to skip the candidate(s) for whatever office then the decision is left to those who choose to vote for the office in question. Please do not confuse one's choice to withhold their vote (for whatever reasons) with voting for one party or the other (in this case the GOP) as it simply is not so. My vote belongs exclusively to me as yours does to you. Any candidate must convince either of us that they are worthy of our vote in order for it to be cast for them by us. Our decision to vote or not vote for them is completely our choice as is simply skipping the office in question. If neither candidate is to my liking or has not convinced me that they deserve my vote then they don't get it.

48. "the lesser of two evils"
Personally I think most people are a bunch of assholes. I rarely met anyone who is a decent human. That doesn't mean I'm going to let everyone else control the outcome of elections.

Ok, I understand you might not vote. Obviously, you can do what you want. I just don't think your rationale makes any sense. Voting is a patriotic act.

If I refused to vote for people who I didn't like, I would pretty much never vote. My frustration is more with the human race than it is with the political process. People are twisted selfish bunch, that no wonder freedom is so prized, it's something that people usually subvert for their own selfish purposes. Still, I vote.

Also, mathematically, you are providing the other candidate an advantage.

54. I understand your point of view, however
I never said I would not vote. I stated that I may skip the offices for which I can find no suitable candidate. I believe that voting for someone that I don't find to be suitable just so the other guy whom I find less suitable is simply the wrong thing to do. Granted no one will fit every criteria that we set out perfectly and some compromises come into play, yet there is a threshold at which I or anyone else will make the choice of A or B or none of the above.

So they need to increase right wing outrage, and increase democratic frustration.

... there is simply no way. Americans are stupid, but not THAT stupid. The economy is in shambles and anyone who thinks Americans don't blame Obama for that is a fool.

The only thing that will bring Obama a second term is the idiot show the Repubs are staging. They don't like Romney because he's not idiotic enough, and so they parade a gaggle of fools, narcissists and psychopaths looking for someone/anyone. If they run Gingrich they will lose, but then I'm not all that sure they really want to win. Nobody can fix the mess we're in now, why not let the other party take the blame?
