David Brooks on Charlie Rose talking about "super committee" failure...
Remarkable. "we are going to have a bad decade". "two minority parties stuck in their mindsets/cocoons and neither wants to govern". "Neither party has the country behind them".

"When Obama wanted to do healthcare, the public recoiled because no one was behind it".

"Americans still aren't willing to pay for the services they demand".

Lies lies lies and distortions. No mention of one party being all about greed. No mention of how corporate media tells people what to think (and most of them believe it).

If you have the stomach for it, be sure to watch - to see a big shitty pile of utter distortions.

And this is only 10 minutes into the interview....not sure if I can watch any more, but this gives you a taste (a bad one).

I know a broken clock is right twice a day. David Brooks is worse than a broken clock. He is never right.

2. Sometimes Brooks says something useful
then I get further down in the article and have to jump out of the steaming pile of BS.

3. He actually has some good things to say but doesn't reflect back
on how the party he is part of/shamelessly supports ruins the very thing he is promoting. He talked about narcissism, pride, all of the very things Bush, Rumsfeld, Norquist et all do endlessly - yet he can't see the problems that are right in front of his face - and that he enables.

So, in the end, he is likely a pretty smart person that is himself a narcissist - and most often a hypocrite.

He just drives me nuts......(obviously!)

4. Thank you for deconstructing David Brooks...
I was getting cognitive dissonance... he sounded rational and kind at some points in the interview, yet his viewpoints were so divergent from mine...

Weird... and so seductive to the RightWing. :(

5. "Americans still aren't willing to pay for the services they demand".
I know they aren't, because Republicans refuse to raise taxes on the corporations and people that demand services, use resources and then cheat the tax system to get out of paying them! The little guy pays taxes, small businesses pay taxes. The monolithic corporations get subsidies, and billionaires hide wealth in off shore accounts.
