Greenwald - Chancellor Katehi’s impressive learning skills
http://www.salon.com/2011/11/21/chancellor_katehis_impressive_learning_skills/singleton/

"The UC-Davis Chancellor responsible for the pepper-spraying of her students, Linda Katehi, today went on Good Morning America and explained why she should not resign or otherwise be held accountable: “we really need to start the healing process and move forward.” On a radio program in the afternoon, she expanded on this view by saying: “We need to move on.” So apparently — yet again — the only way everyone can begin to “heal” and “move forward” is if everyone agrees that those in power with the greatest responsibility be fully shielded from any consequences and that their bad acts be simply forgotten. I wonder where she learned that justifying rationale?

UC Davis chancellor a Bush appointee

"Linda Katehi, the University of California-Davis Chancellor under rhetorical fire for ordering police to evict student protesters on Friday, was previously appointed to chair the Committee on the National Medal of Science appointment by President George W. Bush.

The 12-member committee evaluates nominees for the National Medal of Science. She served on the committee until 2010.

Katehi was named the sixth chancellor of the UC Davis in 2009 by the UC Board of Regents and currently receives a salary of $400,000 per year, an increase from the $356,000 she received from the University of Illinois..."

9. She is way overpaid. That job is not that demanding or difficult.
I bet she gets expenses on top of that paycheck.

"(the best thing for me and my career is) to start the healing process and move forward."

and

"(the best thing for me and my career is to say): We need to move on"

11. "It's time to start the healing"
"Because I really don't want to lose my $400,000 a year job, and well, I'm more important than a bunch of students."

She shouldn't resign - she should be FIRED.

15. Why didn't she talk to "her people" first?
The letter that was written by the professor said that
he organized the sit-in with the students.

I would have thought she could talk to the professor
and at least asked them to leave or move but, at least
talk to her people first before calling in the cops.

She sounds like she got pissed and overreacted.

It's like the University I live near - The city makes all
sorts of money from the students but harasses them with
city ordinances. They want the money but they don't
like the kids. What a prickey bunch of morons!!!
