Just to put this whole UC/Berkeley/Davis thing into proper perspective
imagine that the protesters sitting on the ground, arms linked, were the members of the football team, protesting a reduction in their football scholarships.

The police would have sprayed them in the face with pepper spray, right?

:sarcasm:

2. Imagine that they are students rioting and overturning two news vans..
Because they object to the sanctioning of those who enable child rape.

3. LOL! No fucking way in UC Berkeley
The highest paid person there is the football coach. And the richest department is the Sports Department.

It would be nice though, if the football team came out in the Occupy protests.

5. Value Judgements
if faculty salaries reflect a college's real values, it tells you something when a public university like Cal Berkeley pays Jeff Tedford, the football coach, more than four times as much as the Chancellor, who's no slouch, at cloae to a half-million a year.

The service academies are paying big bucks to the football coaches too. Navy pays their head guy over $900,000 a year, an amount that may be entirely federal tax money. Why even have football on campus?
