Community college might make more sense. The only reason colleges and universities get away with charging outrageous tuition is that students will pay it.

...is that colleges have to make up for reductions in public funding.
And by the way, a year of college eduction is substantially cheaper for the taxpayer than a year of prison incarceration.

3. They charge it because they HAVE to. Prop 13 and Norquist are strangling our state. |

Prop 13 basically guarantees that taxes are CUT every year, then you've got the republicans who force all tax hikes to go to the people for a majority vote. The end result is that the state gets less and less money every year, while having to deal with an expanding prison and student population. The students will go under the axe long before any of these prisons do.

We are entering the next phase .. to privatize the entire education system from nursery school up. Only the rich will have educated children.
