Democrats and lurking Republicans, do you know what our Political Parties really are? |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-22-11 09:09 AM by ThomWV
Disabuse yourself of the notion that there are Political Parties in this country that are, each of them separately, a coalition of like minded persons who work to set public policy (law) so as to achieve their own vision of an improved world. Maybe once they were, maybe once they weren't, but there is no doubt that is not what they are now.
You know what our political Parties have become? Let me see if I can get it into a single sentence:
The political parties in the United States are, each of them, the fast-track means by which private interest direct the public policy to their own self-interest.

1. Always has been but now there are zero safeguards left that..... |
|
can rein in that private interest. Today the private interest faction includes the lawmakers themselves and they are working in tandem.

3. one is a corporate controlled entity that does the water carrying for the corporations... |
|
the other is a corporate controlled entity that, while still being a water carrier for the corporations, does so behind peoples backs.

4. But so is the other ... and I think I can explain that too. |
|
I think one is just an over-flow device for the other. When the job of serving the special interests becomes so great that one Party can't do it alone there is always the other party sitting there ready to do the over-flow work.

5. In the current state of affair, there is plenty of overflow. |
|
it's just up to whomever to try and find a big enough bucket to catch all that overflow money.

6. I've been saying since the 2000 election... |
|
...that there's one party in this country - The Money Party.
There's a left wing, which is the Global Corporate Socialist wing, and a right wing, which is the Global Corporate Fascist wing. Global Corporate Socialists are a little better for real people, but still serve the interests of capital. Global Corporate Fascists don't give a fuck about people, and do things like steal elections.
I don't think OWS will ever be strong enough to counter the effects of Global Corporatism, and I don't know what a viable alternative would look like, at this point...
