"What kind of a peace do I mean, and what kind of a peace do we seek?"
12:30 p.m. today, 1963.

What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children--not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women--not merely peace in our time but peace for all time.

...

So, let us not be blind to our differences--but let us also direct attention to our common interests and to the means by which those differences can be resolved. And if we cannot end now our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity. For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal.

The finest, strongest, most no-bullshit liberal speech ever delivered by any President, ever.

3. Many years ago today marks the day the right went crazy. They did
not want that peace and they have gotten their way due to his untimely death. We miss you John.

5. Goddam commie!
What kind of a world would it be, if it weren't for the Pax Americana, enforcing American interests through the threat and use of our superior weaponry? As long as we have hands to wield them, and the will to use them, America's vast armory will not sit idle. Our swords will never be repurposed to plowshares, and the only peace terrorists and their ilk can look forward to is the peace of the grave, whether below ground or below water. And America will celebrate the deaths of those we designate enemies, as well as their associates, relatives and luckless bystanders. The High Church of Redemptive Violence quivers in anticipation of the blood that will be spilled on its altar for the greater profits of industry and their brilliant captains. Our common interest, nay our only interest, is the further enrichment of the wealthy. We will count no sacrifice too great, no cost too high, for that interest, to the very futures and lives of our children. So mote it be.

DATED this 22nd day of November, 2011.
