Missing Ohio man could be 3rd Craigslist victim
Missing Ohio man could be 3rd Craigslist victim

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The father of an Ohio man missing since Nov. 13 says his son interviewed for a Craigslist help-wanted ad that police say actually was a deadly robbery scheme that lured people to a nonexistent farm job.

Jack Kern tells The Associated Press that his son, Timothy Kern, was promised $300 a week, a trailer and a truck for the job near Caldwell in Noble County.

Jack Kern says his son was excited about the job because of the chance of bettering his life and helping his three sons.

Kern believes the outlook is grim because his son was never out of touch for long.

4. Yeah but
usually these scams play out with someone offering to sell something. The victim then shows up with cash. This was a job offer. Strange.

3. This is so scary. I sell stuff and barter on Craigslist all the time.
:scared:

Earlier this year I had bartered some furniture for labor to install some hardwood flooring. After I thought about what I had done, I was totally freaked out because I had just heard about Craigslist murders. :scared: My husband would be gone to work and my son was in school, so I would be home all by myself with this guy/stranger. :scared: LUCKILY, it was Spring Break week at my son's school, so he was home with me. Talk about relieved! I am so much more careful now. I sell things on Craigslist, but try to have the pick-up scheduled for when I'm not home alone and I meet them out in the garage which is seen from the road with a lot of traffic. I NEVER meet people anywhere though. They have to come here.

This story is so sad! I hope the guy is alive! :(
